Equally as valid as telling someone who does not like current AST to play WHM or SCH.

Don't think the shields are substantial enough for how much mp they cost relative to what u can do in diurnal with the same mp. Mp issues with this job compared to when I play WHM are really annoying. I also wish the aspected benefic and helios shield would stack! Maybe I want the tank to have a bigger shield cmon qq They feel so small compared to what a scholar can do. I know that's the scholar's thing but why have nocturnal sect at all if it's not going to be as usable as diurnal. And I still dislike new cards to old but oh well.. I keep getting the wrong seal 6-7 times in a row and it's infuriating. Never got so annoyed with the old system. So far as personal dps goes I don't care, I just want to feel like my support is good.

Well unfortunately. I'm here to stay now. I love the 5.1 changes and it put the final nail in the coffin for sch and whm for me.I honestly prefer the old cards to the new cards any day any time and this is coming from a player that has been playing AST since Stormblood came out. Just reading your posts obviously suggests you enjoy less engaging gameplay that is stale, boring and lame which most other people such as myself find not fun. Please Stick to SCH because I do not want your stale opinions having an effect on my class. Honestly get out of here.

At this point, depending on how the bard buffs, they would at most probably try to change the cards to match the effect of the songs even if it's only surface changes, just adjusted values since they're only single target while Divination stays the same. Probably solar cards would be the damage up buff, lunar, direct hit and celestial would be crit or anything like that.
That being said, while the personal dps feels a bit better with some use getting use to the new minor arcana change, the new noct change doesn't feel noticeable.
Also rip Minor Arcana animation. The ENTIRE fancy card trick is gone. It was one of the sickest animation in game. Too bad 5.0 cards made it useless. You might as well call it "Minor Play" now because that's all the animation does. Very lame SE. Can I have card throwing DPS now SE?
Came here to discuss new AST changes.
Oh, I see we're still slinging insults at people who are comfortable with the new card system.
And slinging shade is so much better >_>
So what did you want to discuss about the changes? For me the changes barely change anything we lost 3 button presses in the opener(also 2 animations), it still a pain for controller users when going for optimal a problem we didn't have before, Noct barely budged at all which is a shame, I like the idea of CU but its execution was made wonky by the very state the job is in, Diurnal and Nocturnal NEED TO GO they hamper not only AST but the healer role as a whole.
Guy butt is best butt <3
Nocturnal/Diurnal are the reason I play AST, the versatility of two different play styles in one job.And slinging shade is so much better >_>

I also play on controller, and these changes, both in 5.0 and 5.1 have been a huge improvement over the SB version in terms of playing cards and minor arcana.
I read people use macros for playing cards... wtf?

I would vehemently disagree. Card management was vastly superior in SB simply because there was a lot less busywork involved. You may not fancy macros but hard targeting—which is the only option on PC—will cause DPS loss since you'll inevitably clip. You still might with macros but it can be more manageable. Regardless, Sleeve Draw remains a huge offender.Nocturnal/Diurnal are the reason I play AST, the versatility of two different play styles in one job.

You may fancy the changes, which is your prerogative but they are undeniable not popular. If statistics for Savage remain, Astro now offers the most rDPS and is still almost a fourth behind White Mage and Scholar. That alone speaks volumes to how much people dislike the design.
As for people not discussing the changes. There isn't much to discuss. Noct received almost nothing as per usual considering they haven't figured out how to make it work going on four years now. And CU changes are both hit and mess. The potency increase was needed but the Noct version is straight up inferior, thus Diurnal remains the better Sect. Simply put, Noct is dead until it can compete with what Scholar offers. Those are all the changes, which circle back to the core issue people have: the current card/seal system.
