I'm going to run it at the lowest difficulty every time because solo instances don't matter except for story. Knocking on the same HP-sponge for 5 minutes or 2 and a half minutes won't make a lick of difference for me and that goes triple for fights where I'm playing some other character (Looking at you, Thancred).

Will it make some really awful players be able to skirt through without improving? Maybe. I don't think there were many people being held back to begin with, though.

It's not something I asked for or even understand why they added, but it makes something that's not really all that fun for me take less time. That's about it.

I get hit every time in Titan because by the time I see the line appear on my screen, it's too late - I'm getting knocked off.
This is incredibly hyperbolic, or you have a really awful internet connection. Yes, the netcode in this game is awful, but if you react to the telegraph right when it comes out (not unreasonable), then you can avoid it. Every time. If you're on the other side of the room, consistently, when avoiding mechanics, it's your internet connection.

Hi, do you have brain parasites?

I guess it's not likely to actually make much of a difference in player quality considering that some people still don't remember what certain mechanic tells mean despite MSQ duties requiring you to execute them properly to avoid an instant failure.

After reading the comments, I still dont see or understand why this is so bad.
Just because somebody not as good as you can now clear an Instanced Quest at a lower difficulty, doesn't mean your game is ruined. It, Literally, does NOT, effect you.

Also it doesn't teach you how to play your class. So to anybody with that argument...just stop.

Putting the extreme hyperbolic claims aside, This change doesn't affect anyone in any way. Giving players who suffer from debilitating conditions or disabilities more ease of access for Story Content Is always a plus. There was even that incredibly inspiring reddit post about a player who was paralyzed from the chest down playing FFXIV with just his thoughts via brain implants.

This change gives players dealing with difficult circumstances more access to the game that they wouldn't otherwise have. All I see for this change is a boon to reach out to even more players building both the player base and community even further. We really need to give this Gate Keeping a rest and realize this change wasn't made to let "bad" players through by nerfing content, It's to appeal to current and future players the most, especially those that suffer from biological limitations that normally can't play these types of games. All in all this is a great change.

My complaint is that there isn't hard and very hard option for those who like a challenge. Other than that, I see no problem at all.

They could have at least added higher difficulties in tandem. Might make me use NG+.

Ultimately this is the right answer. Many of these challenges aren't hard, they're just tedious. Especially the later ones where you're spamming 1111211112 the entire fight.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
