This, pretty much. Sure, you might say "They could improve if the difficulty remained the same!", but the reality of it is that they're going to likely be carried by Echo bonuses in the end and go right back to what feels familiar even if they aren't.

Differing skillsets
Differing abilities, (kids and handicapped play this game too you know)
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Good, it pleases me to hear this, I hope the experience humbles you a bit.Yea it's totally not going to affect the fact that I already carry people quite often in normal modes by healing and ressing the results of easily avoidable damage. These people had the ability to complete the normal modes of the solo content. Imagine the people who cannot and choose the easier modes instead.
Lovely.

Didn’t echo trigger on solo content if you kept dying before anyway? And if so how would this change anything? People just want to complain about anything it seems.
It's just another convenient excuse for people to complainbrag about how they're awesome players who are constantly being held back by bad ones. Trying to sell MSQ as an important skill wall is a huge reach even for these tryhards, though.

That explains the "Why do people use parsers?" threads though when they have to fight mindsets like yours and likewise.. "I am not holding you back, I do all the things right LALALALALAAA".
I'm sure you're HONESTLY just concerned that MSQ's skill gate (lol) was necessary to prepare people for difficult content. This isn't just you trying to win cool-guy points with all the other tryhards here.
If you actually read the patch notes, these difficulty settings are much more powerful than the traditional echo we're used to, so this comparison doesn't hold up at all.
All I can say is, I hope none of the people defending this move are among those who bail immediately when Titania or Innocence pops because the DPS check fails so often in DF.... Right now, trials are the only thing you're forced to run with a group of real players in SHB, and you see how well they're already going.

I don’t think this is as big of a problem that you and others are making it out to be. I don’t believe there’s a huge wave of bad players being gated behind solo content and that this patch will burst the floodgates and we’ll be inundated and party content will be unable to be completed. I think this can go into that list along with the 5.0 healer changes as “things that killed the game but never materialized as bad as the doom sayers said it would”.If you actually read the patch notes, these difficulty settings are much more powerful than the traditional echo we're used to, so this comparison doesn't hold up at all.
