    Lag issue

    Hi,

I've been experiencing lag since yesterday on Elemental Aegis server.
I already checked my connection via speedtest and no problem on the results.

    speedtest result: https://imgur.com/a/vFM2nGM

I also don't experience this kind of lag in other games.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC or home network that coincides with this?

What platform do you play on and are you using a wired or wireless connection?

What have you tried so far to alleviate the issue?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

It started on monday. Last windows update on my PC was last Friday and I was able to play with no lag during the weekends.
No changes on my home network.
Platform is PC and I'm using a wired connection.
I've tried restarting my modem and restarting my PC.

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV.

Is the Final Fantasy XIV allowed through the fire wall? If not please make sure the exception has been made. Please also try the the following:

Final Fantasy XIV will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. As such, it needs to have the proper configurations to avoid connection issues. Adjust the following settings in the Internet Explorer (not Microsoft Edge) web browser.
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

After a few days since I last posted/commented here, the lag went away on its own and everything was fine until yesterday.
This is on PVP (Rival Wings) and this made it unplayable. Game would lag (I can move but the other players will stop moving) hard randomly during pvp.
I've already tried the last suggestion just today and no effect on the lag.

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

Do you experience lag anywhere else in game? Could you also try the following:

Port Forward – open the following ports ranges on your router:

    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
These are remote ports in your router’s firewall. They designate what can send information to your PC and what cannot. These specific ports are used by the game to connect to the local client.

Not noticeable in other parts of the game (I can speak fine with NPCs with a half second before message windows open).
I also went and played leap of faith in goldsaucer to see other players and no lag.

I'll try to see if this only happens during peak hours, I only usually play PVP during peak for a faster queue.
Also, those ports are fine since I can play ok in non-peak hours.

So I tried to play pvp around 7pm-8pm (GMT+8) and can confirm that it is still laggy.
Also experienced around 4 disconnects (90002 I think was the error code).

Tried again at around 10:30 PM (GMT+8) and looks like lag is gone.
Will check again tomorrow at same time if issue persists.

So this would be the 5th day that I'm experiencing lag during this time period. Currently doing MSQ roullete and lagging.
I've done every technical troubleshooting I can do on my end and I only experience lag in this game.

Thank you for the reply reonsakurai.

From the issues you are describing, it seems that you are running into issue along your way to the server. Since the troubleshooting provided did not alleviate the error, I'd suggest contacting your ISP and making a report with them.
