    In short, you do not have to like windows, but they should be there to keep the balance, you have an alternative... or atleast you did in FF11, what you should be fighting for is making sure an event is released like einherjar (in terms of having the same drops).
    Windows have nothing to do with balance- They only served one true puprose, and that was shifting the mob's next spawn time a little so that it wasn't always spawning the same time. But this actually ended up backfiring because the mob ususally spawned in one of the last few windows and the time took to kill it ended up putting the next ToD around the same time in many cases. No spawn windows would actually be better than spawn windows for this purpose, the only difference is the mob's spawn time moves later each time instead of earlier- but the end effect is basically the same.

    throughout this recent, I've also been making the generous assumption that nobody is cheating. FFXI's model for most HNM spawns greatly promoted cheating. Lots of people did it, because nobody wants to lose a pull and wait another day or however long it takes to get another chance. It became so common that it was more like a disadvantage if you refused to cheat than an advantage if you did.
