That feel when your realm would attempt to kill the drake and fail miserably even with over 200 players ; ; I miss these days on DAoC.I liked the Openworld dragon in DAOC. Which flied around and from time to time he landed in his dragon hording.
DAOC Dragon Openworld Raid
you needed many people for that. and it dropped something like respec stones etc. and of course weapons and stuff randomly and a trophee of his head which you could place in your private house. well its from around 2002 these graphics btw^^
dragons have been part of the FFXIV storyline why dont want to fight one of these dragons again as an openworld encounter raid boss for more than one grp?
no chance for bots.-
*suddenly Hibernia gets animist, Mushroom partyyyyyy* <3

But man, those were some great times. Between the mass confusion, the chaos, seeing people drop and new people take their place trying to take it down. FFXIV could benefit from some hectic, chaotic open world PVE.
In a sense, with SE having multi-cultural servers it would bring back the feelings of being in a 200 person max rank besieged in FFXI. Having someone from literally every corner of the world working together trying to bring down that main boss, and getting their asses kicked into oblivion. Truly was a ridiculously fun time.
In XIV I could see a huge dragon flying over 1 of the main cities, and having sirens go off, or some sort of indicator allowing players to be informed of the situation. Then seeing a mass exodus of players out onto the field to battle with that big Dragon, or a Behemoth type giant.. could be anything. I would really love to see something like this.
Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

Yeah that would be amazing. Rift is doing that through "Zone Events". A message is broadcast to all players in the chat to say "Zone event [name] have started in the area [area_name]", so everyone can be informed and head there. It is also possible to check the status on your map. Like Besieged somewhat. But man, those were some great times. And even better now, with the mobile application, you can even be notified of zone event without being logged in![]()

Ridiculously fun content, tied into the game utilizing new-age technology to notify subscribed customers via whatever mobile platform they choose, so that they don't miss out if they are afk!Yeah that would be amazing.
