Secondly, two to infinite hrs? That suggests you were doing things wrong in XI.. It's called having the ToD. When I played XI, I had a full time job, a bf that hates anything video games (constant bf aggro), and taking care of my family. I was also in a HNMLS for 2 years. I never once had to sit in front of my computer staring and waiting for 2+ hours as some people like to suggest. I could camp KV/Nidd/Tia/etc while cooking dinner, taking care of work, and yelling at my impatient bf. XI's HNM were designed on pop windows for that very reason. Every 30 minutes (or hour) from ToD I'd simply come back to my computer, buff, wait 30 seconds, and if no pop.. Back to whatever I was doing (which even included other in game activities between windows at times too). If we didn't get claim, I haven't wasted anything.. other than perhaps at most 60 seconds per window if your being picky. And if you wanted to stay and watch the other LS kill it, that was up to you, it doesn't take the entire LS to stay just to collect the ToD.. HNM camping was only a time sink if you allowed it to be, or just didn't know what you were doing..

That all said, as much as I want to see HNM in ARR, it doesn't need to be exactly like XI by any means. I'll admit camping Tiamat used to piss me off royally, but only because of the 24 hr period that the window was open could meant that you won't always be able to get the ToD, as I imagine people do need to sleep at some point..

I just don't get why you feel why the option shouldn't even be provided to players who do understand the system, simply because you don't think that you have enough time..
Well, I don't get it either, because I'm not against having something LIKE HNMs in FFXIV. But I am quite against the implementation of FFXI's HNM mechanics in FFXIV.

You may be fine with it, but I personally do not think that having to pay regular attention to my computer when I should be doing something else is a valid or even reasonable compromise for a chance at experiencing all the content the game has to offer. I really don't see the point of having multiple hour pop windows instead of, say, making the window just 15 minutes long. Nothing changes and nobody wastes nearly as much time.
