I prefer special conditions met. You should put in hard work and effort to fight HNMs with your group. Not wait and twiddle your thumbs until it pops.

This is fair. I agree as well, I think some NM's/HNM's should have requirements that have to be met before the fight can begin. But some is the key word used here.
Why can't we have HNM/NM's that cater to multiple crowds. How about some force pops. Some instanced HNM/NM's for the ones who despise open world content.
How about Open World HNM/NM's for those who despise Instanced content?
How about crazy 21-24h HNM's for the mass of XI fans who miss the chaos?
We need it all.

Thats actually the best thing about this thread... You're not asking for any one specific thing... just a variety of NM content of all types...This is fair. Also, I said this in another thread but I think it could deserve to be said here:
13. Will there be any new content that unites the entire server?
Recently, many servers have gotten enough people together to defeat one of the epic "Guardian's of the Grove." It would be cool if there was an area that was off limits until a certain super NM was killed. An NM bigger and stronger than the turning leaf trees (Requiring 80+ players to defeat it). So the entire server could get together and kill it, then everyone could reap the benefits of the unlocked area. The Super NM could respawn (And relock the area) every 10-15 days and need to be killed again!!!!In the spirit of fairness, you could also make it so the Sandworm got weaker, the longer he was up... so after like 3 or 4 weeks of not being killed he would be easy enough for a party of 8. That way, if the entire server loses interest at some point then small groups of people aren't completely locked out of that zone... They'd just have to wait until the worm was weak enough to be killed by a single party. The lore could even say that the longer the sandworm spends above ground and away from his Aether source, the weaker he gets. (And therefore you never actually beat him.. you just do enough damage to drive him back under the ground to recuperate)Like if there was a special sandy beach area in Thanalan that had awesome 45+ xp camps, great gathering spots, a couple sidequests associated with it and even a dungeon entrance
Only problem is there is a very large sinkhole with a huge Sandworm blocking the way....
Once he is beaten though, the zone is open for 2 weeks before he respawns again....
Beating him requires at least 80+ people @ lvl 50 going open world "Guardian of the Grove" style
It would be cool if every 2 weeks, an army of adventurers set out to destroy the sandworm!
Or not.. you could just keep him the same difficulty and if a server can't get the people together to beat him... tough luck
So you hate FFVII which is considered the best FF and one of the best game of all time, but love XI.... wow...... says a lot about you.If this new art is of 'Ultima Weapon' instead of a different style of Bahamut, they could make it work like VII's Ultima Weapon fight (which they somewhat incorporated into XI with Sandworm, Dark Ixion and the VNM Yilbegan) where it's a world spawn (minus VNM version) but it travels through zones and while you can attack it, it'll run away from you (Ixion) unless you use a specific item to keep it in place and claim it.
Much like in VII Ultima Weapon will fight then run away after x damage and go to a random location (or straight to where the ancient forest is iirc, but I hate that game so I may have forgotten) and be the final showdown, so whoever gets the ultimate claim at it's 'resting spot' will be the victorious party, unless the alliance system is implemented at that point in time.
I'm sorry but XI and VII are not both great games. XI has nowhere near the critical acclaim, world wide fanbase, sold copies and up until this day pple still cry for a VII remake..... nobody wants a XI remake besides the tiny XI fanbase....
While this is off topic, I think your statement is unfair.
XI's Fanbase, according to MMOStats, in 2007 was almost 600,000 people. Yet you consider that "tiny", before WoW came out it was the highest subbed MMO on the market. (yes, it beat EQ/DAoC/UO).
Yet, regardless of how many players a game had; That does not take away from the fact that alot of people absolutely loved Final Fantasy XI. Just because the game didn't sell 20 million copies wordwise, does not lessen its appeal to most. Why should people get bashed for wanting aspects of a game they so loved put into another game? I may not like certain games, but if a number of people really want content similar to something from that title, then by all means! If it makes people happy, and keeps this game alive, then damnit put all the content in that you can possibly muster up. And I don't think anyone can argue the playerbase's interest in NM/HNM content.
All these one sided remarks do nothing for this game. We need to stop looking at content in terms of black and white, and more of the grey area and do our best to come up with as much stuff to throw in SE's direction. The worst that could happen is the game stays the way it is.
I'll stop your right there.... 600K highest MMO in the market? Try Ragnarok Online and it's more than 40 Million subs. Yes 40 000 000.
As for the HNM yes yes i'm all for that, got nothing against it being from XI. Just when someone praises XI as the god of the FF series and then turn around to say they hate VII, well as a true Final Fantasy fan it just makes puke in my mouth.

This may be hard to understand, but a pay to play is not an attractive payment method for a huge majority of people.
And yes, they were both fantastic games. Deal with it. Both are equally as nostalgic/memorable.
I played both games. Nostalgic is not what i would use to describe XI as for memorable it is more like a memory of the last time you went to the dentist or had a very bad hemorrhoid...
