HNM's was a very small part of FF11, very very small. HNM's is not something you had to do, ein was an option, HNM's were a bonus chance at ein gear, so basically you could go to ein, which literally last like... 30min, yet the option to do something that you specifically might not find fun was still available for those that did... do you really not get this?

The ""competition"" of HNM's atleast lasted forever, unlike other games who think "competition" is achievment based (false progression) on doing something first... so a total of 6 people get claim over something forever because they have a ls full of people who can take a full week off work all at the same time every single patch.

    this. very much this.
waiting 30 minutes and not getting claim is just a waste of time. nothing else.

and to those who say "sometimes its fun to wait! omg the excitement!" i don't get it really.
i mean do you also wait in front of a water boiler and watch it in pleasant anticipation until the bubbles come up?

    please.

Give me a longer spawn with a higher drop rate then that 5min crap in 1.0 any day.

I did not see any positives to the 1.0 system. Content ended too fast, content was not fun, the mobs were always up so nothing was special about them. Honestly if that is how they want to implement nms in 2.0 I say just leave them out completly. Was garbage in XI abysea, is garbage in XIV.

I think by gathering items required to lure a special monster out is better than waiting for a pop window. For example, a good way to compliment this is with triggered pops, and tiered HNMs found in ffxi magian trials.

You started off well, then ruined it. Pop NM's atleast in the context of sky/sea was amazing, they should have more of it over instanced NM's, and I/many others could not care less which you prefer, they should all be included. The common casual idea is if I personally do not want to do it, remove it from the game so people cannot say I cant/wont.

Personally ive found content in games I personally do not enjoy (see PvP), but I do understand that many others do enjoy PvP, and reguardless if I personally do the events, others will, and those people at some point make contact with PvE content and add items/money to the AH/economy and party with me/others who level up. They also obv add to the sub count and the developers have more money to work with.

Yes, it was amazing. In that essence, I'm glad you agree with me.

Just wanna say Ein didn't come out for a long time so HNM's was a pretty big thing. Guess you was not around when it was 500+ camping Faf.

First, you must have quoted the wrong thing because I did not even mention ein in that post. Second... what? Ein was out for a very large portion of FF11 but even if it wasnt im not getting your point here. Unless your trying to say that what... like 12-13+ years ago when mmo's were still small in gaming and FF11 was released without every bit of content they had 10yrs later somehow means an extension of the FF brand is obv going to exclude an alternative to HNM's just... because you personally hate HNM's and are grasping at straws.

I was there btw, loved it.

To the people arguing for X over Y ... There is no reason to have one over the other, there should be instances and campable HNMs etc

I have a personal preference and I could also join in and explain why I want it 'this way' but the game needs to recognise and cater for both play styles.

Also to those stating 80% want this and 20% want that - those numbers mean nothing as by the time that poll was ran a lot of people who wanted/expected HNMs and certain styles of play had given up on the game and left. How do I know this? I have a lot of family and friends I've met through FFXI and FFXIV and 90% had left prior to this as the content they wanted was not available.

Even if we suppose that these figures did represent the whole potential FFXIV community, 20% is a huge chuck and needs to be catered for.

Again, (before I receive hate replies) I am NOT saying that either style should be solely incorporated but BOTH should be - people need to realise this and get back to the OPs topic.
