What Is The Most Likely Class To Be Added Next?

Inspired by the interesting thread http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ly-to-be-added I thought it would be fun to ask the opposite question.

What do you think will be the most likely class/job to be added next? Will it be a limited job or a full job? Have we reached the point where no more classes will be added to the game?

Some kind of shape-shifting job, they have made multiple references to shape-shifting for combat during SHB so far.

    I'd be hyped.

At least until they show evidence of having wrecked the concept or having failed to make use of any of its unique advantages.

To your point, isn't there items that transforms the player into monsters in one of those dungeons? I think you may be on to something. Wish there were more of those transformations other than the few for that content.

That would be my guess too if they're going to pull from existing jobs as a basis.

Otherwise I think we're getting to the point where we're going to start seeing jobs that are new to the series with this game, or variations on jobs from older titles by different names. Like how Astro is Time Mage plus extra stuff.

A job I'd personally like to see adapted is Oracle from FFT. The job specialized in status debuffs, though that identity alone isn't enough to build a job around, so they'd have to do something else to make it viable in this game.

Given everything I've heard so far, the Puppet Master, Beast Master, or Geomancer may be next. I never played FFXI so I'm no expert, but I think the Beast Master may be the class most likely to be limited. Unless SE homogenized the beasts, balancing content with the different beasts in mind would be a massive hassle. The Puppet Master would be like the Summoner, but with most of your skills coming from the puppet. Although, I've heard the Puppet Master also knew hand-to-hand in FFXI. As such, I think it's got a good chance of being a full job, unless the puppet is a hybrid (DPS, Tank, and Healer)

Geomancer seems like a nuisance too given it's skills are dependent on terrain. Not only would SE have to program different spells based on what floor you're standing on (or your current zone, which would be far more limiting), but the Geomancer is known for applying status ailments to the enemy, at least in FFT. Due to diminishing returns on status duration, the effectiveness of the class would fall off quickly, unless they nix the status part.

Personally, as stated in the thread I started, I'm hoping to one day see the Onion Knight, but I know that's not going to happen anytime soon, if at all.

Chemist is what usually comes up the most, but because it's stupid, it'll likely be mixed in with another job.

Oracle was a job teased by Yoshi during two interviews as something that was intended to be a third job for Stormblood as an "Eastern-themed spellcaster", meaning that there could potentially be assets for it still in place that would make it easier for devs to work off of.

Geomancer keeps getting asked for by players way too hyped from its version in the Astrologian 60-70 job questline to realize that it's literally just the Conjurer base class with a different coat of paint and seem to frantically scrounge for any possible scrap of an argument to keep convincing themselves that the job will come out. While I wouldn't mind seeing Geomancer in FFXIV, I'd much rather see it get the Astrologian treatment, where instead of receiving the Hingan version seen in Stormblood, players would get a different version involving a story showing how the Geomancers seen before knew absolutely nothing.

Whenever someone talks about wanting Beastmaster, all thoughts sadly seem to point to that "lion tamer" circus reject version from XI. If it were to come out, I'd much rather see it as something that calls various beasts in to deal indirect damage. Like Ace Ventura in that second movie, except maybe using something like a warhorn instead of his notable butt-yelling in that film.

Puppetmaster is another job I'd much rather see re-imagined. Lord of Verminion sucks, so why on earth would you want it as a player job? In fact, it's because of how much it sounds like basically playing Pokemon that I'd expect it to be the next Limited Job to be released and being relegated to just a more advanced Gold Saucer minigame. If devs do decide to release Puppetmaster, my only hope is that they look at the XI version and think "that's stupid, let's make something different" since that's the only feasible way that Puppetmaster would not be a Limited Job.

To answer the question, the simple answer would be something demanded for fan service, and something different (if not wholly new to the series). If it's just one job, likely a mix of both.

You can do use the core concept of FFXI to do a non limited job, you just have to remove the attachments collection part. You'd summon one of three different puppet (Like SMN) and use elemental maneuvers to alter their behavior. The job gauge would be the burden gauge, that decreases overtime, and each maneuver would increase it, your goal being that it wouldn't cap. After that, you could have skills that spend the maneuvers for different attacks or spells.

So, basically, a SMN using companions instead of pets, with the old heat gauge and something inspired by mudras.

But to say it would be good and fun to play is up for debate

Chemist would not be only about using potions. Basically, you could have a "Potion" action, a "Remedy", a "Grenade" action, etc...with 5 charges each. You'd also have a "Refill" skill that replenish all your charges (That would otherwise not refill passively, like Aetherflow).
After that, either you spend your actions as they are, or you decide to mix them to create a different effect (If the grenade is a 140 potency single target, mixing two will give you a 200 potency AoE, but will use two charges, same concept for potions)

Y: I usually compare FFXIV with a theme park, but the Forbidden Land of Eureka won’t be a place where everyone would want to go. For example, there are people who don’t want to go to horror houses because they don’t see the point in getting scared on purpose. For example, on a date, the boyfriend might want to invite the girlfriend to go the horror house, but the girlfriend just doesn’t seem to find it fun. In other words, it’s not like everyone wants to go to the horror house, but there are people who just love the adrenalin rush they get from it. Think of Eureka as something like that.
