    A good old boyish cott

You know, it'll never happend, full blown healer-boycott, but just the chance to make a dent and shake SE's ivory tower so they'll have to peer over the railing upon their creation and wonder why there's disgruntled frowns about doing the same old thirty second routine of 12 step-and-turn dance that was banned in Tadfield in '59 for inducing lethargy.

Wouldn't it be grand if when 5.1 hit, nobody played ast, sch or whm? Just for a while. Sure, some might not read this, some not care, some hypnotized by 2P's thighs or just play healers to spite this boycott. But imagine, new story dungeon and a long-awaited 24-man raid. And everyone had to wait up to hours upon hours for healer slots to fill. SE would hopefully step out of their parlor, with a lavish crown a top their head and velvet robes flapping behind them, rows of thralls following carrying food, fruit and wine in golden cups. "What is this?" they'd demand "Why aren't you quacks signing up to do new content? And keep it quick I've got dps jobs to balance." And there'd be no response because all healers slept soundly in their beds.

Only after the deaths of several advisors and jesters did King SE slump on their throne, asking "Sigh, dear Percy, these healers will the death of me. I could excommunicate them but then I'd lose taxes. Why aren't they healing?" "Because they are bored sire." "But I gave them shiny new heals! Made them have just one single devastating spell! Even brained that fairy and turned every card the same so they'd not have to think." "It would seem they enjoyed it more before, your radiance." "Did they? Phaw. I can't be bothered with this. Dear Percy, my old friend, please fix this." "Very well, m'lord." And, lo, Percy ventured out to the Healers, waited until the day they woke, had cleaned, eaten and dressed themselves, then hold a grand council. There he asked "What do you want for your job?" and just listened. While the suggestions were varied, ranged from realistic to fantastic, one thing became very clear to Percy: Having one nuke and one dot for 78 levels really was unmitigated bum.

Not sure how much traction such a thing would get, I know many will be keen to get their hands on the new content. I think if successful it'd draw attention if enough people see it and feel as strongly, as of course this is how boycotts work. I got other stuff at 80.

It wouldn't be any skin off my nose doing it. I want to at least get SE's stance on healer issues, because as it stands, it is a limbo, despite SE being good as far as communication goes with other roles, even if people don't like the response they get.

Whether it'd work or people or follow suit, a shot in the dark.

Honestly I'd be up for it, SE doesn't address healer issues well or even at all and this would force them to address the communities problems because people would start cancelling their subs because of the lack of healers and thusly SE would lose profits, and they would do anything to get those profits back.

No healers? No content. No content? No subs. No subs? No profit. Sounds a little too simple when I type this out but I'm sure it could work even of people just start mass complaining about queues on the forums, SE support, in game, and on other social media platforms.

I plan to keep on healing and actually get my SCH and AST some levels soon. Nothing's gonna stop me.

I think in principle the idea works, in practice, rarely so much. It's a variation on "speak with your wallet", which is typically how consumers will deal with stuff they're not happy with and when what they're not happy with affects the company or business they're dealing with then they pay attention. For example, EA and Battlefield 2. In their case, there was enough of an outcry they realised it'd affect them financially and tried to salvage the launch by removing some of their BS.

I think this however, is a little different and if I'm being honest, I'm not sure if enough people would get on board for such at thing for it to matter, because you'd need a lot of people to begin and a lot of people who are disgruntled are probably still gonna play their healer job. It's no skin off my nose, because I'm healing less anyway, because I no longer enjoying the role and I also have a tank levelled and I main a DPS now. People will want to do the new Nier raid and will likely pick the job they're comfortable with. Heck the other thing to bear in mind that not everybody agrees with us that healers are in a bad place, which I think would hinder any effectiveness, because they're unlikely to join in.

But I share the annoyance and frustration that these complaints have been persistent since before Shadowbringers, worsened by Shadowbringers and we've yet to see acknowledgment. Acknowledgement could even be "we don't agree there's a problem, we're going to stick to this", because I'll know then to then not both in gearing my healing jobs and put more attention into my tank and DPS jobs. I'll probably still complain because I'm a healer at heart, but at least we'd know where we stand and can't fault SE's lack of communication and we'd know what we can address or what compromises in design we'd give as feedback.

Heck a "we're looking at it" or "we're reviewing it" would at least give -something- to show there is some level of intent. When the dev team shows good communication on other jobs, even in saying "we don't think there's a problem" (see 3.0 and 4.0 MCH) and when they agree there's a problem, they show intent to do something about it, when there is barely a peep it is easy to find that concerning.

I'd be down, hell, I'm already doing it, tbh. I still heal, but only for Savage, and even then, only for my static. I'd love for square to at least say they think there isn't a problem, or that there is. Tell me SOMETHING, man, I'm tired of being left in the dark.

Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?
