They're not excuses. They're statements of fact. Let's not beat around the bush here, some pretty unsettling accusations are being launched at the development team. A common trend from certain posters, no doubt, though mysteriously they don't seem to care enough to stand by their words and quit over it.

hit the nail on the head, if It was 2B and they changed her skin to black for this, this forum would be full of outrage, but apparently it’s fine when the reverse happens cause you know “she’s a robot and skin colour doesn’t matter” which is a very easy thing to say for a group of people who don’t have to think about skin colour.
At the end of the day her skin has obviously been lightened, and we all know why.
'What if' scenarios are pretty deceptive, given that they're not particularly relevant to the conversation. In the event that the reverse did happen, I doubt there would be much in the way of 'outrage'. Most people have better things to do with their time and don't spend each day seeking out a new reason to get up in arms.
Some of you clearly find this to be some sort of horrific event. If that's true, why aren't you throwing in the towel and walking away from the game?
Yeah, how dare people bring facts into the topic!
She is tan and never had "brown" skin, unless you think a tan is that. She is also an android.
No, I wouldn't particularly care.T H I S

However as to the bolded, this just takes the cake. I never see any shortage of vitriol directed towards whites these days, mostly for crimes both real (albeit historical) and imagined (where I'd put the majority). The only people who don't have to think about it are countries who have retained their ethnic majority, like China, like Japan. I am quite pleased to see their reaction to the likes of you, and your little guilt cult, telling you just where to go.

Can we like wait until the actual raid comes out before saying SE/XIV dev team/ Yoko taro are racist?
It honestly looks like an oversight and she has been shown darker in the Cutscenes+ the lighting on renders has always been iffy in the past
Yes, it would not be a big deal.
It sounds like some of you simply have a perpetual chip on your shoulders. As I suspected, the question I asked was ignored as it always seems to be whenever anybody asks why those who are outraged by the latest manufactured controversy never seem to be able to take a stand and quit if they honestly believe that the development team are 'racist'.
Pushing online tabloids as sources of 'fact' is also pretty dubious. Most people don't pay much heed to blatant click-bait.
It’s a collection of racist tweets from white people complaining a character has been changed to black. Lmao you can ignore the entire article cause it speaks for itself. It sounds like some of you simply have a perpetual chip on your shoulders. And how do you know its ONLY white people who complain about it?
The last time i checked, racism was spread out across all races equally.
