I love seeing the excuses for potentially whitewashing a character. "She's an android", "it's arbitrary", "she looks Caucasian to me"... If a character's skin was made darker than the source material, I wonder if it would still be no big deal.

They might have to change her name to 3D or something.
They're not excuses. They're statements of fact. Let's not beat around the bush here, some pretty unsettling accusations are being launched at the development team. A common trend from certain posters, no doubt, though mysteriously they don't seem to care enough to stand by their words and quit over it.

hit the nail on the head, if It was 2B and they changed her skin to black for this, this forum would be full of outrage, but apparently it’s fine when the reverse happens cause you know “she’s a robot and skin colour doesn’t matter” which is a very easy thing to say for a group of people who don’t have to think about skin colour.
At the end of the day her skin has obviously been lightened, and we all know why.
It would be a big deal if it's an established character, but considering 2P is not real a character before FFXIV, then it doesn't matter either way.

The irony of their "If 2B was made black, everyone would be mad!" proclamation is that 2P IS just 2B made black (or I guess tan but who cares) and everyone loved it.

Yeah, how dare people bring facts into the topic!
She is tan and never had "brown" skin, unless you think a tan is that. She is also an android.
No, I wouldn't particularly care.T H I S

However as to the bolded, this just takes the cake. I never see any shortage of vitriol directed towards whites these days, mostly for crimes both real (albeit historical) and imagined (where I'd put the majority). The only people who don't have to think about it are countries who have retained their ethnic majority, like China, like Japan. I am quite pleased to see their reaction to the likes of you, and your little guilt cult, telling you just where to go.

Yes, it would not be a big deal.
