still stuck on the magic bucket

so far since HW and 1100+ casts later while casually fishing i still have no bucket. i have tried several different methods will no avail. at this point i dont think im doing the method of getting the minion properly. currently a lv 80 fisher gathering 1392 perception 1160. so far i have tried atleast 150 casts at the current lv cap. anyone know the rng for the minion? does mooching really help your rng chances? anyone have a ritual sacrifice for the rng gods? how many goats, cows, chickens, pigs and braincells must die for me to get this????

Are you using the Brute Leech bait? And do you have Snagging on? Those are the only requirements listed to catch the Magic Bucket. GamerEscape doesn’t list Mooching as a requirement for catching the minion.

The catch rate is STUPIDLY low, even if you meet all requirements (see previous what HyoMinPark wrote). I caught it on one char after sinking over 600 brute leeches into it, I know others got it after 100-200, and one person reported also throwing over 1000 brute leeches down that icy hole before reeling it in. If you have a catch rate like 0.6% or something (according to ff14angler, with 331 reported catches)... then some people get it fast... others will have to sit there for a thousand and more attempts. That's statistics... not being in your favor.

Assuming you're using Snagging and the right bait, all you can do is keep trying. Like Chiami said, the catch rate is incredibly low. (Personally it took me 300ish catches.)

No, it is actually impossible to catch the Bucket with mooching.

It's a direct catch with a brute leech as bait. And Snagging must be on. Everything else is RNG.

In addition to the necessary conditions mentioned above, I also recommend the following:

    - Do not fish when Captain Nemo's window is open, to avoid him "polluting" the possible catches pool
    - Magic Bucket has a legendary tug, so ignore ("you lose your bait") any other tugs to speed up the process
    - Use Surface Slap on one of the most common catches (like Seema Patrician or Fanged Clam) to also remove them from the pool of possibilities (Surface Slap doesn't expire until you successfully reel a fish)

Use Surface Slap on Fanged Clam (it has a long cast time), activate Snagging, use Brute Leech, and you will likely catch it within about 200 casts. About a 50 min session.
