Tanks get an AOE at either level 6 or level 10 but DPS and all healers don't get AOE until much later. Even stranger to me is that DPS jobs get AOEs at different stages. For example, Archer/Bard gets an AOE at level 18 but Lancer/Dragoon doesn't get one until 40. Why is that? Why must dragoon be the butt of the joke even in this? (jk)

Now, I understand the desire for making each job feel different but I think that homogenizing things like the acquisition of AOE abilities or DOTs across jobs should outweigh that desire. Not only that but I'd prefer to have an AOE ability as quickly as tanks do. Nothing is more unsatisfying than slowly whittling away at mobs one at a time while playing a job at lower level content.

Some people may disagree and say that it's more fun to utilize a single target combo than to spam one AOE ability during trash pulls but in my humble opinion, killing trash mobs isn't really all that exciting for anyone other than the tanks and healers who have to think about things like mitigation, staying alive and not angering the dragons chilling in the optional room next door. At least, not until you get to max level and you have many more abilities at your disposal.
