Won't do any good. Bots would just make it cheaper. Happens in other MMOs where you can buy currency.

Also, that's a hell of a way to inflate prices.

SE offers gil at (for example, I don't know what gil sells for) $1.50 per mil.

    Do gil sellers either:

    A) Quit
    or
    B) Sell it cheaper then SE, and still have customers

Pretty sure SE selling gil wouldn't do anything to stop them.
Personally speaking, I don't even care about gil sellers, the thing I care about is bots & the level 1 spammer bots.

SE needs to have harsher restrictions in game to stop it, honestly.

    - Remove shout/yell chat from trial accounts
    - Allow for only 1 deletion of a character every 14 days (to lower the number of shout bots)
    - Harder team to manage the bots in game that are flying - Or even some type of system that detects accounts going out of bounds in duties (Seriously, how is this even a thing?)

    Here's a cool little trick:

Invite 3 bots to your party, enter a duty, and just watch them. Bots will always accept a party invite.

They go through the duty by flying through the ground, going to the first boss, killing it while in the air so the boss can't hurt them, repeat. The fact that SE has no type of detection for this type of stuff is baffling.

They could actually stop the bots by just redoing the enemy AI so it can tell if a player is out of bounds or otherwise unattackable, then reset or become invincible if that's the case.

WoW has had that functionality for ages and it actually already exists in flight-enabled areas and enemies simply can't be damaged if you're standing somewhere they have no means of pathing to.

If you actually watch the bots take on something tougher in ARR zones/dungeons, though, the enemy will just move above/under where the bots are floating then just stand there doing nothing while they get nuked to death (I presume they didn't consider putting a Z axis check into their AI as they didn't expect people to be flying around in those areas). It's kind of pathetic, honestly.

They'd solve this issue much more quickly if they went after the gil buyers rather than focusing mostly on the RMT spammers.

Goldsellers are like the tabloids, they already have the budget for ban.
1 banned for 1 new account, it is a problem that MMOs manage more or less well.

In WoW, the additional QoL solution, people you post are also mute the time of your active connection, if you are disconnected, you see them again.

So what can an MMO do for goldsellers who in the time of the CD/DVD, they already had a pallet of license in stock in case of ban ... Today a license is bought online. There is no miracle solution, just solutions that could improve the QoL of the players.

To say: "Fed up with goldsellers/bots" is like saying "Fed up with crime"; as long as there is money to earn easily/quickly, there will be.

Even tho its almost impossible to make RMT disappear completely, i just don't see why they don't use any anti-cheat protection at all.

This.. If I'm seeing hundreds of posts containing "xyzgold.con", I can just select that bit of text in chat, right click, and select "block: and never see it again. Additionally, if, say 1000 players block the exact same message text, then the system should remove ALL messages containing that text.

Maybe you did already see RMT add some strange characters in the middle of their url, or random letters/nombers at the end of their sentence ? That's a way to get around what you are talking about. All it takes to make blacklisting of a chain of characters useless is to change one letter, while keeping the whole readable. There is even already some messages where they tell you what to change to get the whole url, in case people dont get it. You will quickly get tired of blacklisting xyzgold.con, then xyzgMld.con (M=o), then xyz-gold.con [minus the -], then "xy zg ol d.c on" (without spaces), etc. The possibilitys are endless. In the end you will just switch back to battle mode again to not see another add with a slight variation from the previous one.

Even tho its almost impossible to make RMT disappear completely, i just don't see why they don't use any anti-cheat protection at all.
If you are talking of client side anti cheat, it is useless against RMTs. They use customised clients to get around this kind of things. All it will do is making players who dont bot annoyed and angry at the anti cheat bugs and false positives, while the RMTs will still be here in full force.

What frustrates me is seeing RMT sellers spamming main cities for upwards of 12+ hours at a go. And Square cannot manage that. Really. Uh, okay ... because literally all it would take there is for one person to go from city to city every couple of hours and ban people spamming RMT sales.

This is not difficult. Know what it is? Something that affects Square's bottom line. Because these guys are paying for those accounts. And Square thinks that is a fair trade off for messing with the in-game economy.

Oh and yeah, if Square really wanted to give us tools to deal with this crap, we wouldn't have to take up our entire blacklist for RMT spammers.

The lack of effort combined with the "looooook we done good we banned people!" attitude while RMT sellers get off scot free is feckin' annoying.

A 3rd party launcher has already dealt with the problem more effectively then SE, which is kinda sad. Kinda sad that SE hasn't really embraced mods or other launchers yet.

I'm not going to condone the use of a 3rd party launcher, but one of the things it does, apparently, is actually block/filter in-game bot messages to stop them from clogging up the chat.
