I'm done reporting gil spammers.

I've reported one outfit's spew hundreds, if not thousands of times so far, and, after many months, they're still posting the same stuff constantly. Square may be banning the bot accounts, but they just create new ones and keep posting the SAME ads over and over.

Now, I just switch my chat log to battle mode when I'm in any of the spam cities so I don't see their crap.

I'm not sure what happened last week, but there were way less bots around and it shows with how few bans there were in the latest report (A typical ban figure is anywhere from 5K to 9K, but they only purged 943 last week). As of sometime yesterday, however, they suddenly started showing up in droves again.

The fact that they also didn't ban any "normal" bots at all is rather suspicious, too, and makes me think they may be mistaking gil farming bots for player-owned bots.

In any case, they seriously need to get their act together when it comes to bots in general as people have found ways to exploit virtually every form of content with them at this point.

The only thing SE could do to completely stop it is to make gil untradeable. Which obviously won't happen.

As long as there are players who want easy instant gil, there will always be gil sellers. They will always find new ways to advertise to players no matter what SE try to do about it. WoW still has issues with gold sellers and bots despite over a decade of coming up with ways to deal with them. It's a never ending battle.

It would be nice if reported gil sellers became auto-muted after you report them. It's a bit annoying to have to blacklist them afterwards. And it's also irritating that they take up slots in the blacklist. That's something SE could do to improve things a little for players.

There are only gil sellers because people buy gil. Get rid of the buyers and there will be no reason to sell.

That was a rough patch for the game and that's putting it mildly. I had myself set to /busy status when I was on just so I could make it stop. If it wasn't I would probably get 2-3 tells a minute minimum, usually more. That isn't an exaggeration either. It was truly that bad.

I remember this when i started i'm glad i found an fc earlier on (about 5 days in) because i could set myself to busy while still chatting though took 3 days to figure how to change chat channels (everybody starts somewhere :P)
