Naturally. But, if all you're fighting is level 60(ish) mobs, it doesn't really have much impact. By the time they're fighting level 70 mobs, they'll have level 70 gear available.
Overleveling with no side quests, roulettes, leves or fates?I have been playing for about 6 weeks and I am level 70. I have been doing only MSQ and unlock quests for the most part. No side quests, roulettes, leves or fates. I am still constantly so over-leveled for the content I am doing that everything is trivial.
In addition, I keep hitting dead zones like at 50 and 60 where I can't get job quests or gear upgrades until I slog through 40-50 MSQs at which point I enter the new expansion even more over-leveled.
I just hit Stormblood and I am 70. I asked in the Novice Network and was told I should be in ilvl 400 gear at 70. I was told I could get the tomestone gear at Rhalgr's to get to 400. I looked it up and I won't be able to get tomestone gear at Rhalgr's until I complete the Stormblood MSQ. I have literally 90 MSQs to go through to get to that point. By then I will be almost 80. So I will be level 80 before I am able to get the gear I need at level 70.
It just kind of feels really broken to me. I do enjoy the story, but let's face it, most of the quests I will have to slog through will be fetch quests and busy-work and it's really hard to find the motivation to slog through all that just so I can get gear which will be trash to me at level 80..
You're lying.
I began Stormblood with Ninja at level 64, and by level 69 MSQ I had to get into roulettes because the MSQ was too high for my NIN.
The MSQ advanced faster than what I could level.
And I have the Aetheryte Earrings.
"You're lying"? Nice social skills buddy. And it looks like your reading comprehension skills are on par with those social skills. I never claimed I did no side quests, roulettes, etc. My exact words were "for the most part". I did some initially, but stopped and focused on MSQ and unlock quests when content started to become trivialOverleveling with no side quests, roulettes, leves or fates?

To be clear, I don't need to defend myself nor do I owe you any explanations, I am just setting the record straight since you decided to come into my thread and make rude accusations based on a flawed understanding of my OP.
Have a nice day.

Keep your weapon up to date with your level for max DPS no matter the job. If you out paced the MSQ I would focus on that, because MSQ gives the most exp. Someone advised to level another job. I leveled my tank to the exact level of my MSQ once my healing maxed and was 20 levels above my MSQ point.
Once you have no more MSQ quest to do, you will see how your leveling process will change significantly.
Also with 1 class at max level you get an armory bonus, there is helm, earring and necklace that increase exp as well.
~Believe in me who believes in you~
SE are aware of the various issues with the leveling process. I believe the plan was to bring the first set of changes in 5.3. Everyone leveling before then will need to bear with it though. You've done well getting this far, don't worry too much about gear and just try to enjoy what you can of the story. At least you aren't leveling a healer..
You don't need a class at max level. There's old information (still in the game) that there was a sliding scale of how much bonus you got depending on the difference between your current class and highest one, but even that has changed.
It's just a fixed bonus for any class that is not your current highest-leveled class. 100% for Lv1-70 and 50% for Lv71-80 if I remember correctly.
