I haven't gone into a fight without throwing axes on my WAR in a long time. Good for pulling mobs from a distance, but its main benefit is TP generation. AA on WAR is quite slow, but with almost no interuption to auto attack, a throwing weapon has made it so build TP twice as fast as without throwing weapon. 900 tp every 4.5- 5 seconds instead of 450 per swing. I throw an axe after nearly every auto attack.
