Warrior is the easiest and least-hectic tank job. There is almost no weaving and no double-weaving required. You can get away with an VERY low APM on it. Perfect for someone who has trouble with their hands hurting as you don't have to press many buttons at all.
I recommended paladin because it is (for me) the most intuitive tank to play. The abilities do grow in number but I don't feel stress from clicking on all the buttons.

With that said, you are totally right about warriors. They would be fantastic for someone with trouble with their hands.

Kallistra, and the much missed Selli, recommended that the OP try out different classes and play the one they liked the most. I think that's the best advice, really.

    BUT...

In the interest of helping the OP, I'll list what jobs to avoid for now.

Monk. Now, I love monk. It's simple to play and does good damage. However, it requires a lot of button pushing.

Dragoon. The same. I adore the job and am leveling it on an alt. Again, easy to play but requires a lot of button pushing.

Black Mage. This one is borderline. It has an easy rotation but you have to be really good at picking where you should stand. This will frustrate new players. But, it is a fun class.

Dancer. Super fun, but dear goddess... your fingers will cry.

Machinist. The same as dancer. Love this job but it is busy as hell.

Samurai: Nice class. Try something else first to build up your speed and confidence.

I had trouble playing even the simplest rotations for several months and even a single dungeon run was enough to cause pain in my arm and overall fatigue.

RDM was the only job I was able to manage during that time due to its simplicity, so I'd recommend RDM for being the lowest button presses on average. Their main rotation is only 5 buttons because 3 of their spells get replaced with their procced versions. They only have 3 oGCD to weave regularly with plenty of time to weave them because of Dual Cast and none of them need to be used in specific places in the rotation so you can be relatively leisurely in using them. Their melee combo is rare enough that you can get away with mouse clicking it.
That's why as my closing I suggested just not to play melee because they all press a lot of buttons.

    My 2 pennies

Ok as a person with carpal tunnel and arthritis, and a casual gamer :P. War is easier to play than whm depending on the group. whm if you get a pull the whole dungeon type of tank I know than my left hand is numb after that dungeon and right is going that way. >.< But I love the whm, and with a normal group it's not nearly as bad. War on the other hand you set the pace so it's not as bad and lots less panic button pushing :P. But I use a mouse with extra buttons because the left is worse than the right, so I put 5 or 6 spells on it to help out. With only 6 on the keyboard 1-6 Also on the 1 and the 5 I use nail polish dots took 3 or 4 drops on each one to make them stick up enough when the issues kick up with the left hand. Honestly if your playing with friends play what you want to though, try them all and see what works for you. Welcome to ff14 from a ex wow player :P

    Red Mage.

Its basic rotation is enough to take you through all the content to the 80 cap without issues, and you can left out all the extra buttons of more optimized rotations (or maybe use them when you feel so), without any need or urge on doing the extra buttons pushing.

I do have a question about this game that is a bit unique. I would like everyones opinion on which class/job would be the easiest to play for someone who is somewhat disabled with their hands.

To keep the story short so that I don't use up too much of your time. My wife and I are both lifetime PC gamers but were in a serious car accident a few years ago. My hands are ok but get tired and cramp easily now. We used to do alot of end game raiding in world of warcraft. I used to have a very high average click rate. Now my issue is that I can't click or press button repeatedly very quickly so a spamming flay style is out. I am not planning on participating in end game content or anything like that. Mostly my wife and I plan on just enjoying the game and grinding out levels or chilling with professions like gardening.

So on to my question. Is there a class/job that has slow click rate for their rotation or has a lot of give in terms of making mistakes? Especially if there is one that has good enough output for questing with little clicking.

Thank you in advance for any help.
My mom is 71 and I hit 41 this year, we've both found rdm to be the easiest. We also both use controllers, she an xbox controller and I a playstation style one. The rotation is forgiving, with only the three move melee combo being the one that has to be nailed properly. Other than that, it's just keeping track of black and white mana and casting the spell that will raise the lower mana.

I am also physically disabled with a lot of nerve damage in my arms which can make my fingers a bit twitchy. I do well with RDM and WHM. Feel free to send me a message on here for more information and macro suggestions.

Interesting. I love MCH too, but if you think it's busy then you should try SMN. As SMN main I go to MCH when I want to not be so busy.

Another aspect that hasn't been brought up here is hardware. Controller vs keyboard/mouse. Using special gaming keyboards, foot pedals and the like can also make the game more accessible for those with physical issues. I would have a hard time with this game without my Logitech G13.

I main WAR and I'd agree that we generally don't have too complex/fast a rotation. Especially since you can control the pacing of the dungeon you are in. So if you don't pull wall to wall, you won't have to worry about burning CDs as often, cus healers can usually keep up with smaller trash pulls just fine.

My only other exposures have been the Heavensward jobs and SCH/SMN, though.

I do find I USUALLY don't necessarily have to hit buttons hectically as Scholar either, but I also think that is highly dependent on the group you are in and the need for your skill button usage can vary pretty widely. Whereas the pace of a tank's skill use in a specific fight is decided by the mob they are tanking, who's behavior is more predictable than a human's.

But if you aren't looking to be a l33t savage raider, you can probably do with any DPS or Tank, hit buttons at your own pace, and still clear the content as long as you do mechanics. Even endgame raiding like Eden at the moment, or the 24 mans. People don't "optimally" use their skill kits all the time and still make clears.

    tldr: I'd go WAR.

Good advice. I bought a g600 MMO mouse last year and it helps me pull off my aoe rotations by using the 7-8-9 buttons. I feel like I should get much more use out of it but each time I use a thumb press my hand contracts so that the pinky catches the mouse to keep it from moving right so using it affects my targeting and movement pretty badly. I have difficulty using modifier keys so the mouse is still useful only using 3 of 12 but I wish I could use more.

I play PLD as my main tank but I recommended WAR because of the paladins' utility defenses which require getting a player targeted before they are cast.
