Mac: First install runs out of application memory

Installing on the Mac, after I press "Next" on "Select a Service Sccount", the "FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE" process just keeps using more memory, and eventually I get a dialog that says:
Your system has run out of application memory.
And Final Fantasy is using 261 GB of RAM!

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, different user account, disconnect other disk drives and external monitor, reboot...nothing seems to help.

I've got a ticket in, but I see other threads in the past that indicate I'm not the only one who's had this problem.

Has anybody seen and solved this?

macOS Mojave 10.14.6, 2019 MacBook Pro, Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB

Fixed: Remember to register the game on Mogstation!

Instead of putting the license key into the Final Fantasy XIV program on the computer, log into Mog Station, go to Account Services, and then click Additional Platforms there, and add the license key for the appropriate platform.
