I prefer that my achievements make some sort of sense in the game, keep the NPCs there to handle the rewards and categories!

But unlocking the category is unnecessary in my opinion, however it is quite cool to go back to them once you've gotten achievements that give rewards and regale them with your tales to receive said reward
I agree, having to unlock it is silly... but it's nice to go for a Chocobo ride out to random camp A to get your Achievement item. At least you know someone is caring for it, polishing it and keeping the dust off till you get there /grin
That I'd totally get behind. It's more like this is not just a very unique method, but it also neatly ties up storytelling and game mechanics, something that I find so rare in games. I'd rather they keep this tie.
But whatever else they can do to make it less of a hassle, the better. Reposition the NPCs, perhaps not having to unlock categories.
(although truth to be told I have a deep burning desire to see everyone who cares about Achievements to suffer as much as possible- That is a personal opinion, by no means they should cause aggravation withotu reason)
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
