Oh yeah. Because the Dev team hasn't been listening to the player base since then, have they? Not at all! Nope. That makes a BIG assumption: that this time round SE will actually LISTEN to the feedback and concerns from the beta testers, unlike back in 2010 when we were more or less completely ignored in spite of the fact that MANY of the serious problems which were raised and brushed aside were directly responsible for the debacle that was 1.0's release.

Nevermind the fact that Yoshida himself said they want to take the time to consider player feedback about the beta and not make the same mistake this time around >.>
That being said, regarding the UI, I can't feel but this is lazyness on the part of SE. SWTOR has an option to scale UI. If SE knows it's being requested, or thinks it may be useful to some players, there is NO reason why they shouldn't include this themselves instead of relying on an add-on. Hopefully this isn't a sign of the future- "oh, someone can just fix it with an add-on"

They have listened but very little has changed in 1.x's UI, all they have said is this stuff will be taken into account and addressed in 2.0, Kraggy does has a bit of a point in that we gave feedback in beta and none of it was taken into consideration you can't blame anyone for being skeptical the second time round.
What Okipuit is saying above is basically no more than normal customisation controls that are present in most MMO's these days and the part regarding addons seems like stating the obvious as addons are designed specifically for that purpose.

Not only beta, alpha too. Well, I guess in alpha they "fixed" the slow combat issue, but other than that not much has changed (they also screwed up lighting from alpha to beta, alpha had HDR effects)
Not listening in beta is what made ffxiv do a faceplant on release though. So yeah, we are skeptical. Yes, they do listen to our feedback more now, let's hope this will continue.
