There are times where I want to be able to macro target an individual character, for various reasons. Such as a cover macro, I always play with the same players, so I want to be able to cover the same player, as they're always the one nearby, for instance. This was in FF11, I can understand a delay, but choosing to never implement the functionality is silly.

    Shift+Tab.

I've never found clicking on my desired target to be complex, honestly.

Not always that easy when things are crowded.

What, you can't hit your 'confirm' button? You do know that in the targetting configurations you can choose to make the game auto-target the closest target when you press confirm with nothing on, right?

And when I say complex, I mean all the different targeting modes they added and all of the commands which they continue to add to, really all of that just to attack something? It should not be needed in the first place. It is never that complex in other games. You can not say it is a simple system.

In version 2.0, we’re creating the UI with the following conditions in mind, which means that there shouldn’t be too many situations where you would need to type out NPC and player names with macros, etc.

    Targeting Party Members

You’ll be able to decide the rules for your party member list and change the order to your liking. It will be possible to target by indicating TA1 for the tank for example.

    Targeting Enemies

We’ll be implementing a command to target the enemy closest to you
We’ll be implementing a command to target enemies that have enmity towards your character

By implementing the above, we believe it lowers the number of situations where typing names would be beneficial, but we are also planning to make it possible to target via direct name input for /invite and other commands where it is necessary.

We will be announcing specific feature details in the future.

How about adding a feature that gives you the options to also send /tells, and invites by clicking on any player name in the chat log?
