It has been mentioned in the past that the most popular mods/add-ons would be added to the main game for PS3 users. It's possible he was alluding to that. What I find interesting about this is that this implies user add-ons will be possible for the PS3 version as well. I'm not even sure I know of any other games besides Unreal Tournament 3 that actually made that possible, cross-platform too.
That's pretty awesome!
In the meantime, however, I got a second PC for the livingroom, so I don't really need to worry about the PS3 version anymore.
I hope Square Enix will itself make add-on for the release of the game ...Hey everyone!
I have a bit more information regarding 2.0’s interface customizability:
We're taking into consideration that some PC users with high resolution screens may want to expand the size of their UI while PS3 users might want to decrease it. Also, some may want to be able to individually customize the size of their text and icons within a widget. However, this may affect the layout design of the widget so we do not plan on including this feature by default. Users who desire to customize their UI with more detail could possibly create an add-on to do so.
Of course if there are major issues with the UI during beta testing (ex: The HP bar is difficult to see, please make it thicker) we will look into making these adjustments.
with 1920*1080 résolution i will need adjustments the first second to the game

Other than the silly UI lag and targeting issues, the two things I wish we could do now is being able to show all 3 action bars at once, and being able to resize the party window to make the hp/mp bars larger.
are 'fixed keys' being done away with in 2.0?
not even really sure why -everything- isn't remappable in 1.xx already.. but is that at least being looked into for 2.0?
I don't know about the party MP/HP part, but hasn't Yoshi-P already said they would actually allow us to show two or three action bars simultaneously? ♫

I understand that we will be able to create our own UI when 2.0 is released, but is it possible to completely change how hour UI would look...I've played the majority of the MMO's on the market right now and I really dislike the whole action bar UI set up...would it be possible in 2.0 to make my UI text/menu based like the UI in XI (which I prefer over all else)We have a lot of good information to share in regards to upcoming UI changes, as well as those planned for version 2.0!
Sorry for how long it has taken this to be implemented, but we’re glad to say that this will appear in patch 1.21a!
We also have some information regarding the plans for UI updates and changes in version 2.0:
In version 2.0, it will be possible to display in the party member list the actions and casting timers being used. We will also make it possible to display the casting timers for targeted opponents, so that battles will be much more exciting.
The UI for controller-users will look completely different than that of a keyboard/mouse-user in version 2.0. The game pad UI will involve multiple sets of buttons (arranged like direction pads placed side-by-side) which should make maneuvering with the game pad easier. Of course many players are familiar with the current controls, so we plan on including this as well.
Vastly different from the current specs, players will be able to select how many rows of the action bar are displayed.
Players will be able to drag and drop items, macros, emotes and target settings!
As seen in the 2.0 UI screenshot, players being targeted by a monster will have their party slot number displayed next to the monster’s name
We plan on displaying a class icon in the party member list by default.
To add to the 2.0 UI screenshot, the released screenshot is of a level 50 player in a full party. The T (Tank)/H (Healer)/A (Attacker)/B (Buffer) terminology may be unfamiliar for new players, but every player will be able to customize their UI to best fit their needs.
Monsters that are engaged in battle with a party are each assigned a letter based on the order that they were engaged in battle, and the letters will be displayed there. We're still discussing how we would like to implement this.
The bars next to the party member list in the 2.0 image are what you were requesting. However, we are currently planning to use a combination of numbers and colors to represent the different hate levels. For example, 1 or A (aggro) representing red, 2 representing yellow, and 3 and on representing green.
I apologize that most of my comments are about the 2.0 UI, but please continue to submit your feedback on the UI!
Its unlikely the game would function completely differently with text based menus, changing the look of the UI is one thing changing the mechanics of the UI is something completely different.I understand that we will be able to create our own UI when 2.0 is released, but is it possible to completely change how hour UI would look...I've played the majority of the MMO's on the market right now and I really dislike the whole action bar UI set up...would it be possible in 2.0 to make my UI text/menu based like the UI in XI (which I prefer over all else)
This more of a question, if the dev's are willing to answer this and because I am kind of an oldschool vet when it come to PC games and MMORPGs.
I like the fact in FF14, it has a similar control scheme to FF11 being that you can use a keyboard to do everything (outside of moving the windows around or having to change chat tabs). Will FF14 2.0 also be like this? Where a player can choose to either just mostly use their keyboard or if they want to really focus on keyboard/mouse?
I am really hoping yes (Though I know so many may go wtf to it), but I am one of those crazy people who are far faster in this game with a keyboard then I am using a mouse (It like.. Quake 1 all over again).
If it is not a supported choice (like WoW - cause you can't play WoW without the dang mouse), that is alright I suppose, but I am just curious and maybe would like to see it be an option.
Could we get a /assist command? this will help greatly in more chaotic environments
In City of Heroes it was possible to 'attack' friendly units and automatically target the enemy they had targeted. the battles were very fast paced and it made it easy to hit what was being pulled, or what the tank was attacking.
You could also 'heal' an enemy unit and heal what they had targeted automatically. this made it far smoother to keep party members alive when fighting a big boss in an alliance.
In 2.0 it was said a while ago that you can target the same monster as an ally by clicking the target next to their name in the party list.
I don't know how this will work for game-pad and keyboard players though.
