Fair enough, but other people want to wander off and discovery some huge ruins or a massive crystal tower they had no idea was there.
A map that is already filled in destroys these kinds of awe inspiring moments IMO.

Why not a compromise then? Let maps start out with the basic area revealed but let the outlying areas, dungeons, forts be unrevealed.
If someone is desperate enough to not want to actually walk somewhere before being in a rush to be there...well I'm not sure perhaps they need to stop playing a hour before they need to work.
Nope I don't want to compromise.
