    Framerate Issues

    I'm at a loss.

    Since 5.0 launch I have occasionally been getting an issue where my FPS will drop suddenly from a steady 100-120+ to 55-80 (top end of spectrum being in low population zones, low end in crowded areas like Limsa Lominsa). For context before Shadowbringers launch: I would get a consistent 120-150 depending on the area.

    Adjusting the in game resolution does not affect the performance of the game, running the game at 1280x720 low settings will yield the same frame rate as 2560x1440 max settings; which is mind boggling to me. I am running the game at native monitor refresh rate (144hz) on a G-Sync panel, with the in game frame limiter off with current drivers (subsequent rollbacks and updates to newest drivers had no effect).

    Playing the non Steam PC version of the game.
    CPU: i7 8700k (5GHz OC)
    GPU: GTX1080ti
    RAM: 32GB CAS 15 DDR4 @ 3000MHz

    Were any updates or changes made to the PC coincide with this? Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

    I have reported this issue multiple times with my post and on others post and will continue to do so since my post just get sent to closed concerns without any real word solution or potential fix. this is due to the ingame limiter, after the fps maintenance adjustments back at shadowbringers start it messed with clearly now multiple peoples games. causing freezing, crashing all around ruining peoples enjoyment of the game. its not our pc's its not our drivers, our startup etc. I like the op was able to run this game in a solid 144 fps nonstop not a single issues for months then as soon as shadowbringers launched and you all did the fps maintenance when you reverted back it screwed with my pc and now i cant even go above 72 fps without incurring the wrath of a pc lockup.. plain and simple it is ffxiv not us. please pass along to devs and maintenance teams to reanalyze and see if there is an issue so we can enjoy the game again.

    Do have Microsoft phone and skype running on your pc. Found out for me those what was causing all my problems and after turned them off fix the lagging and disconnects. Now play all the time with 200+ fps with no problems.

    Apologies for taking so long to submit a reply, and for the large image attached. I can not replicate the issue consistently, only now did it finally happen to me again. In the screenshot below I have the task manager showing GPU usage while the game is running is only being ~70% utilized when it should be pushing the GPU to 100%. The in game FPS counter shows 69FPS, while Nvidia shows 70 (top right). Normally this would be easily at 100-144+ in Eulmore depending on amount of character models being processed. And, as stated before, adjusting resolution and graphical settings do not have an effect on performance when this issue occurs.

    I am not attaching a full system report the launcher provides as, after reviewing what it contains, it provides little useful information pertaining to this issue.

    The Process Information provided from the system information report generated by the launcher shows no conflicting processes which would interfere with GPU usage in game. As hynaku pointed out, Skype or other programs could have caused this issue. But the due to the inconsistency of the issue, at least to me, does not appear to be a cause of the issue.
