Best DPS classes?

Samurai is the best pvp melee by far. Midare, senei, tsubame with another senei if you had 100 kenki.

I feel like NIN, BLM, and DNC are the best out of their respective roles, at least for frontlines.

Being able to escape bad situations easily and burst hard are valuable traits and those three have both in spades.

They're generally the ones I see running around with highs due to the ease with which they can both burst and avoid death if they play smart.

I'd say, if you are new to PvP, try tank first. They can do a little bit of dps, but they die slower, so you can learn a bit of awareness before switching to dps. Some Dps can be very squishy, and you may end up dying before you can get a proper experience of PvP.
