I was told this was one that's easy to solo. How the hell do I get past the giant tree mobs that do 9999 damage? They seem to be in every path leading to the ??? on my map.

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!
Walk past them by using the "X" key on your keyboard.

As Antanias said, the trents are sound aggro, which means they can only attack you if they hear you running by. As long as you walk, they will not notice you.
This thread would be more at home in the MRD/WAR forum...
There's a Plush Moogle on the way that tells you to walk, im guessing for people that haven't done the Moogle quest =P
I just cleared all the wolves and then tried walking by the treant. He still killed me... :/

It takes a second for the game to get you back into "walk" mode and you also can't move while in active mode.
After you put your weapon away wait until the movement icon reappears next to your TP (should be Orange in walk mode)
As the poster above stated you have to put your weapon away, pause for a few seconds, then walk.
But as an fyi, you can walk past the wolves on WHM easily without dieing.
OK, I'll give that a try. MRD is the only job I have at 50. CON and THM are in the mid 20s, so I doubt they'd do me any good.
