Sounds like WoW legion mage tower which was awesome so sureA thought occurred to me with the NG+ coming is if they used it to also implement EX versions of solo instances. I doubt it will ever happen, but was thinking it would be pretty cool for those who want a little more challenge from these kind of duties.
Honestly, I've failed a lot of them already before figuring out what it was exactly I needed to do. That's a different kind of challenge though. I'm thinking instances that actually push your resources to the limits.
Are there any solo instances in the game already you would consider to be a bit more on the EX side of things? I know one I had a lot of trouble with was the SAM 60 quest. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Musosai sensei was not messing around, at all. But I really enjoyed fights like that because it really had me using up all of my hotbar to get through the thing.
Also, Red Chocobo EX doesn't count!
There's no reason that solo instances can't have their numbers be tuned to make them fair for all jobs, have mobs hit harder for tanks, have less hp for healers, etc.They would need to make it such that most if not all damage is avoidable since not all jobs can self heal. Also would need to scale back the target's HP and their damage output to account for nontanks. But then you'd have jobs like tanks having an easier time because of extra defense/HP compared to say a ranged DPS. Then it stops being an extreme trial and just a regular solo instance. We had a few of these already. The Lakshmi one in 4.2 comes to mind.
To be fair, Blue Mage solo content (Masked Carnivale) is sort of an EX solo experience. Sure, you can only do it as BLU, but using the limited resources you have as BLU you must overcome certain bosses and their mechanics. The cool thing is, there's usually more than 1 solution to the gimmicks (not counting the suicide bomber cheese method)
They have this directly in the Masked Carnivale and solo Deep Dungeon; and indirectly in trying to solo trials and hunts from old expansions.
... they ... tend not to be all that enjoyable. At least to me. Heck, the Carnivale and the trials Khloe demands got turned into chores, of all things.
I really dislike the solo duties in this game unless it is very easy. Also it is dumb to have sync applied to a solo duty when there is no exp reward. At least let the overleveled people make use of their high level to steamroll solo fights.
Eh...remember this is an MMO. Players should be encouraged to play with other people, not just run solo all the time.
Nah if FF14 was a real MMO it woudn't force people to go through MSQ just to get to group content. Even in FF11 people could visit new expansion areas without needing to complete teh MSQ of the previous expansions.
This could be used for a cosmetic upgrade for our relic weapons
But people don't want to play with other people, they want to play with bots wich never do any mistakes and play their rotation always perfect. There is no communication in dungeons and for harder content you get kicked for not playing like a robot.
Well, the game design encourages such behavior, so I can't really blame "the people". However, this is no environment in wich I want to play with other people anymore. At least not with 7 others in extreme content.
But of course you are right, and I don't want solo extremes for the same reason, this is still an MMO, but on the other hand exchanging the other people with bots doesn't actually sound too bad... o.ô;
