I also prefer the non-heated animations. Back when the combo was RNG, it felt more satisfying to have Clean Shot as your only flashy/flippy animation. Now they’re all equally flashy/flippy, and it sort of loses its appeal. Too much of a good thing, and all that.
I have no idea how my character doesn’t shoot herself on accident with all the twirling she’s doing.
Bard’s (and Archer’s) basic moves are likely based on Japanese archery, where you really do just stand there most of the time aiming your arrow. I don’t think they were inspired by any western sorts of archery portrayal where you spin around and crouch and stuff. That said, BRD does have animations where they spin (Windbite/Stormbite, Empyreal Arrow), and I think they feel more impactful because you don’t see them every GCD.I think it's ridiculously stylish. I'm not fond of the non-Heated animations myself because there's absolutely no movement in the legs which looks incredibly stiff unless you're running around (and even then things look awkward). I have the same issue with Bard's animations.
The style of Edax’s outfit (which is the starting GNB gear) comes off as more western to me—considering that the boots look like cowboy boots (complete with the little spiky wheel thing on the heels). It doesn’t really scream Matrix. That said, people are free to discuss preferences in aesthetic. I feel that the Heated animations look a little ridiculous. It was a bit different in SB, where you got them as your Heat Gauge surpasses a certain threshold (so you could rationalize them as you’re “powering up”), but now they’re all the time. Too much of a “good” thing.Well you said "this isn't the Matrix", yet you dress your character in a leatherjacket and sunglasses, which is as Matrix as it can get. So your criticism literally makes no sense in the first place. With all the crazy stuff happening in the world of Ff14, you chose MCH jumps as something to call over the top? Really?

Currently leveling MCH from lv30. In the 60s now.
I find the jumps and flips are cool and stylish at first. Good gpose material.
In dungeons however, I more often wish my character would stop doing them before he breaks his ankle or something. The slight pauses/animation lock in some combo into another makes it little weird to me visually.

I also dislike the heated animations, not that they dont look good its just that you use them all the time as your basic skills. You need some more ordinary skills to make the cool ones cooler. I always thought it would have been cool in stormblood if you only got the heatre animations while overheated because it would make your burst "cooler" by comparison to your regular rotation but especially now i just wish i had the options to just shoot things

One of the biggest things that drew me in to XIV was the fact weapons are actively used in all types of abilities, whether its melee, spellcasting or ranged physical. Actually seeing a ball of fire flinged from my staff is absolutely baller. Needlessly flipping, jumping and spinning to fire my gun however...Eh. I'm not keen on heated anims, haven't been since I capped MCH in SB. And with some of the weapons (I namely use the Makai Hand Mortar), it just looks flat out silly to use both hands with it.
For the record; Terminator, a movie out a solid decade and a bit before the Matrix, did the leather coats and sunglasses trope first. The Matrix does -trench coats- and sunglasses, and skintight body leather that would make Kate Beckingsdale blush.
Only thing i hate about MCH is sprinting with smol gun it looks dumb, also hate the DRK female idle stance wish i could change it to the male
This... so... much... I finally got into playing MCH more recently and found all this fancy footwork just to fire off one bullet rather silly. Machinist is now a Gundancer. I'd be even satisfied if they just gave an option to toggle the different animations. No need to remove them, just provide an option to use the original ones or the new ones.
Something else I like to see changed is are animations during Hypercharge: weaving Heat Blasts with Ricochet/Gauss Rounds makes my char moving like a bad break dancer ...
Not a fan of gun kata, eh? Makes you feel uneasy seems a bit much, seeing as you slay humanoids, fling fire and bring allies back to life from near death, but side-flipping while shooting a gun makes you uneasy? This is a fantasy game - let it be fantastical.Heated animations just feel wrong to me, as a permanent change to your basic combo. Running into battle and the first thing you do is a dramatic sideways flip as you fire your weapon. I don't even know the right way to describe it but it makes me feel uneasy - it's not the right motion that matches the action the character is doing. The old animations were fine.

The non heated animations are terrible.
