Ok first of all, this is not about number tweeking and more about ideas how to reduce the homogenization of the healers.
I tried to keep the healers near the original identities while also working in where the devs seem to want to go, aswell as my own ideas.
My general train of thoughts was to break up the HoT vs Shields problem they designed themselves into by rather generally dividing healers into reactionary and preemptivly.
And i know, some might get mad or angry about my ideas, since i will be breaking more than a couple eggs in the process, but please stay with me and try following.
With that out of the way, lets start with
WHITE MAGE
The devs made it clear that WHM is suppose to be a direct healer, an idea that they enforced with the introduction of misery and the lilies. Since this class is the poster boy of a healer i also wanted him to stay more simple and have a more well rounded kit.
The mayor changes id would do are to remove Medica2 and turning Regen into a OGCD with a 30sec CD. WHM already has a ton of healing he can utilize and while Regen has been a staple WHM spell, that is the only ties to passive regen WHM ever had in other games. The Missing heal would be adjusted by increasing the potency on both afflatus heals aswell as on the ogcd heals which would stay mostly the same.
(on this note i have to admit that Asylum does not fit in well, but i have no idea how to rework it to be more thematic, feedback on this would be much appreciated)
WHM would stay the big daddy of healing that can step in to save the day when his partner struggles, or take all the burden by himself for a time. In order to accomplish this, i would also INCREASE the MP costs of all healing spells on white mage, to emphasize his emergency healer role.
SCHOLAR
Now this is where it might get crazy and i can already hear some people rage typing.
SCH itself looses almost ALL direct healing. To compensate it will be transform into shielding at a factor of 2/1. The only ways for SCH to refill HP now would be the fairy, excog, and Emergency tactics, which would have its CD reduced to 10s but now turns all already applied shielding into 1 big heal.
On this note, the fairy would be changed from an entity to a buff with fairy animation, it would now work similar to Dancers dance partner mechanic and always follow 1 assigned partner (if no one is choose will be yourself), while healing people in its surrounding but always prioritizing the partner. You may have noticed that i didn't mention lustrate and indom when talking about direct healing. that is because they a fey mechanic replaying fey pact and feys blessing (sort of). While using lustrate scholar will heal the chosen target, while they fey will heal her partner or (when full) the lowest person within reach. indom will work similar in a matter that both you and your fey partner will emit an aoe heal, which will be a bit smaller and less potent than current indom. Both effect will stay the same as they are now, if you have the fairy at your side.
The idea behind it is to make scholar on one had much more capable at shielding, on the other however much more vulnerable once his shields are actually breached.
(This is a bit half baked, i admit, but i hope you get the general idea.)
ASTROLOGIAN
This one gave me headaches for weeks, but i came up with an idea that works both thematicly and gameplay wise. (and no, i will not dwell on the whole old card vs new card debate. both systems would work with what i have in mind, so just imagine whatever you prefer)
AST would be the 2nd preemptive healer who utilizes delayed healing tactics similar to earthly star in order to keep the party save. diu and noct would turn into regular CD that buff your heals instead of giving shields or HoT.
Instead Diu would now shorten the time until a heal unfolds his full potential( eg. ES charging up in 5 seconds compared to 10.) while noct would INCREASE the time it took to charge, although with increased potency ( again ES 10->15 for full charge but the potency would increase from 720 heal and 150 dmg to 850 heal and 200 dmg)
CI and CO would no longer be OGCD heals but instead used to manipulate the heal spells, CI would immediately trigger a full charge on everyone around you, while CO would set back the timer for 10 seconds, again all around you. (similar how you extended the buff during 4.x)
Now, you may be saying "Hey Amalia! If you take away CI and CO, we don't have enough oGCD heals anymore!" and you would be right. However i think horoscope and synastry could take their place as aoe/ single ogcd respectively.
4TH HEALER
As the last Healer i figured a Time Mage would be appropriate. Now AST, i know what you are thinking "but AST is already a time mage!", please put down the torches and pitchforks and let me explain.
With the recent removal of time shenanigans from AST i think the devs want to move him more into a fate/space mage route rather than a time manipulating one. Together with my previously proposed WHM changes that would open up the field for a purely HoT based reactive type healer.
His main gimmick would be the juggling of HoT, DoT and a job mechanic i'd like to call time saving. With every HoT tic the TMM would build up a bar which is used to either extend existing HoT or DoT, OR to accelerate himself halving his GCD for a short amount of time.
He would have the usual of a GCD HoT and a weaker ogcd hot, same for single target, but no direct healing. apart from a buff that turns all HoT currently running into 1 big heal. effectively borrowing Healing from the future, while ending all HoTs running.
You could also add a DoT version of this, although it would need to be on like 60-120s CD.
Also as a method of regaining MP outside of lucid, he would be able to briefly reverse the cost of spells, in a way that a spell currently costing 1000MP would for that time, actually GIVE 1000MP while costing nothing. the CD would probably be around 180s and the duration about 10 seconds. that way, TMM would have burst window to reapply his HoT while also regaining lost MP.
So that's it. Really half baked i know, but i just wanted to get those ideas out there to be discussed. If you have anything to add, like it, hate it or whatever feel free to say so. Id love to hear any feedback.
