    Error 2002

    Hello,

I am continually getting error 2002 upon trying to log into the game. "The lobby server connection has encountered an error." I get this same error upon trying to connect to any datacenter. Google says this issue may have been related the maintance at various points in time but that doesn't seem to be to case right now. How do I go about fixing this error? Apologies if this is a commonly asked question but I couldn't find a common solution.

Most suggested reasons for the issue imply that this is an issue related to a change in internet connections, which would line up with the fact that due to my job I'm at a new hotel basically every few days except for my days off. My last hotel had no issues playing, but could the issue this time be related to my current wifi?

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Are you connected directly to the router? Have any updates or changes been made to your network settings?

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

blinddeadmcjones, where in game do you get disconnected? Is it right when you log on or do get booted from the game after being logged onto a character? Could you also try the following:

Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
