I’d love to have larger apartment sizes personally. Though I can give my alts an FC room, having a larger space to decorate for a slightly larger cost would be wonderful.

What's the point of getting a house then if apartments are upgradeable? Prestige - a yard - and free companies. There are other incentives SE could add to make a plot desirable over houses but I think most of us don't want that. The fact is that SE has, in fact, posited apartments as a freely available alternative to houses, and yet there's very little reason to get one.
Because if Apartments do indeed become "Upgradable" then that would upset some house owners. The whole "Why do apartments get special treatment? I should be allowed to upgrade my house just as much as they do" sort of defense and it just becomes another circlejerk of "Wanting what the other guy has."

Let me be clear. I'm all for Apartments getting upgrades, but to a certain extent. I still stand by my point that, for the price of Apartments as they stand, they need to be sub-par and, through upgrading, could become rather weighty. But that comes with the caveat of potentially making an apartment worth more than a Ward House, which is a huge no-no, if SE wants to maintain the demand for ward housing.

To that end, what exactly do apartment owners expect from a 500K price-tag? A mansion? No. That's like going to rent a flat in a wealthy town for like, $500/month, only to be shocked that the flat you're renting has holes in the wall, or a bug problem, or some other issue / feature that hampers just how much the owner can charge you for. You're not going to expect walking into a Mansion for that low price point, now are you?

Like a previous post in this same thread. Smalls used to be 50M, yet apartments have always been 500K. For apartments to remain that price, there needs to be some things it just can't do.

Can you prove that apartments being upgradeable would upset a significant number of house owners? Or are you just speculating?

Someone somewhere is always going to be upset about something. Doesn’t mean that the something shouldn’t be implemented—especially if it’s highly requested; which, different sized apartments has been requested for years. Since apartments first came out.

I guess if an apartment is able to be upgraded to be the equivalent of a small house - and I have no objection to this - it would need to cost an equivalent amount. It would also need to be subject to the same account restraints as a house, including losing it if you don't use it for 45 days (or however long).

Why should it have an auto-demolition timer? The developers have stated that apartments can be added at any time; and none of the other ones have auto-demolition timers. Can you give a good reason to give these larger apartments one?

I disagree because I can own both a House and an Apartment. If Apartments become upgradable, my apartment becomes more viable which would make me happier and not upset. Because homeowners aren't restricted with apartments, they can upgrade their apartments as much as the next guy, negating the "wanting what the other guy has" envy.

I'd be happy if I could upgrade it to the size of a small house inside and have it cost maybe 7-10 million if it doesn't get auto demolished. Maybe a little balcony or greenhouse instance aswell so i can use a garden and have some furniture out. Medium size I guess i would be fine with aswell but anything larger than that wouldn't make sense to me as an apartment.

Given that people have a rather annoying tendency to be pissed off at anything and everything under the sun, purely because it doesn't do what THEY want it do. I can assume a notable amount of people would voice their discontent.

Or shall we ignore this years entire rants about how media in all its forms are getting low critique scores because X doesn't do this or that. (An example I know is several groups bashing on Borderlands, because it isn't a PUBG clone. But you get the idea, I hope)

But that's not to say ALL house owners would be disappointed. I for one, would actually like Apartments being a little bit bigger, but that comes hand-in-hand with no longer having to glitch furniture pieces to make them functional. (Furniture atop a Loft, for example).

And lastly, to the "Apartments should get a demo-timer" That's.. Something I agree, but also disagree on. If they get an upgrade to be as big, if not bigger than a Small House, then they should be subject to the same ruleset. If not for "stability" or availability, but to once again, retain the value of said small houses. (Beyond the garden, at least) but at the same time, that would also kind of damage Apartments main selling point of "It's permanent." A bit of a tight rope to walk.

I mean, I agree that some will be irritated—but I’d wager that the satisfaction of added versatility to the apartments would appease far more than it would upset: homeowners and non-homeowners. I don’t see “That guy over there would be mad about it” as a true reason not to implement it.

I don’t think that larger apartments should have an auto-demolition timer. Since the idea of getting an apartment is to get a living space that allows a player to unsubscribe for long periods and doesn’t tie them into logging in every 45 days, putting a timer on one specific type of apartment would defeat the overall purpose. And if all apartments had the ability to be whatever size (Small, Medium, or Large), then I don’t think availability of larger apartments would be a concern. The system I imagine for the apartments would be that one pays a specific fee for the size they want, and their apartment just becomes that size. Not that certain apartments are small apartments, others are large apartments, etc..

With apartments being fully instanced, I also don’t think stability would be a concern. They’re closed when not occupied, just like regular houses are closed when no one is occupying them. The only “stability issues” that arise are from the Wards themselves.

If someone who has a house is upset that Apartments are improved and perceive them as better, they have the option of purchasing an Apartment.
