    Request: "Smartcast" for Ground AoEs

Every other game that I've played in the past 25 years (going back, for me, to the original Diablo) has had an option to disable the ground targeting reticle step of casting AoE abilities and instead simply cast the ability at the cursor hover location when the button is pressed (League called it "smartcasting" and the term has stuck in my head since). Not having that option feels Real Bad after decades of using it across multiple game genres. Adding such an interface option would be simple to implement and would feel smooth and good to play (especially for oGCD ground effects - thinking of Earthly Star here) without taking away the indicator from those who want or need it.

A highly requested feature since ARR.

    Maybe in 7.0?

I know this isn't 100% what you're looking for, but you can sort of macro it to drop at your feet, or centered on the tank.

/ac "Earthly Star" <me> (at your feet)
    or
/ac "Earthly Star" <2> (if your tank is in the 2nd slot, change the 2 to which ever slot your tanks in, also can use a players name if you work with a raid group etc.)
    or
/ac "Earthly Star" <t> (if you're targeting a mob to place it centered on the mob)
you can also use this on other ground aoes

    for instance for DRK
/ac "Salted Earth" <t> (will drop it on your current target, but only if the target is in combat)

<t> doesn't check whether you or the target is in combat. It will fire regardless.

I stand corrected, yes <t> does go off regardless

When I was testing it, it didn't for some reason.

You might have just been out of range or out of sight. Since it's a ground target, the button never shows a red X for range, and you'll get an "invalid target" error instead of an "out of range" or "line of sight" error if you try to macro center it on a bad target.

I'd love this feature, but if I may add that it smartcasts when keypress is let go (so if you tapped the key it'd act exactly as you described) but if you held the key down you'd get the aoe aiming UI (and letting go then fires the spell off).

I can't remember if LoL's behaved this way but I know HotS (hero of the storm) does.
