Stop sissy pulling as tank or do dps as healer and you get them faster. Or play BLM, I get spammed with these things to the point I have to run for exit portal because it gets embarrassing.

The increase in comm requirement is to get more people to play tank and healer and to add a grind to extend subs. You'll still be able to queue into the roulette on your tank and get Ramuh EX when you only completed it unsynched as a DPS a few years ago or queue as your SCH that's your only healer you got to 80 by leveling SMN and you'll still be able to farm comms.
1. Wait for low-population hours
2. Change your DF language settings to a language few would have selected
3. Separately queue at the same time as your friends for the same quick duty
4. Complete the duty and comm each other
5. Repeat until you have the required number of comms
Other pairs using the same trick? Use a standard comming system like tanks to healers, healers to tanks and DPS to each other. Results will be the same if pairs mix. Friends not online? You only need a lvl 10 tank or healer to queue into guildhests. Too many tanks/healers causing longer queue times? Use a DPS.
I am enjoying the tables being turned on some DF DPS. Until now they had no problem playing without any responsibility (low damage output).
Play exceptionally well. Comming a DPS for AoE use would be like comming a tank for maintaining threat. Why would I comm a DPS for doing their job if the tank and healer do theirs while dealing respectable damage, pulling big and playing as roles in demand?Play well. Get tons of commendations even on dps. Can quite frequently come out of expert with 1 or 2 on my samurai just because I know how to aoe and use bloodbath to cover any splash damage I take...
It really doesn't take much to rack up commendations. People often say the tank and healer get more. As dps is less noticable. But when your at the final boss several minutes faster than usual its noticable...

I got quite a few comms as BLM when I was leveling it, possibly for handling my fire/ice states well. Or maybe they're just particularly noticeable when AoEing.

While I can't confirm/deny the anecdotal evidence, something that may possibly support that idea is how it can be rather easy to see, via casting bars, when BLM is doing well with AoE. Melee and ranged, not always as easy to notice, depending on sound/visual effect settings.

Given how many DPS don't AoE. I comm the ones who do mostly out of shock. It's like comming healers who DPS. When you see so many who don't, you want to give props to the ones who actually do.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."

Oh I don't disagree. In a perfect world commendations would actually represent excellence and having loads would account for being an amazing player.
However this is FFXIV here. And the bar for getting commendations is much much lower than that.
In XIV you can walk out with a handful of commendations just because a few folks like your glamorous or you simply said hi peeps at the start of a duty. Hell you can get commendations just for being the last person to leave an instance at the end. So throwing out some dps as a healer or aoes as an actual dps is generally going to net you a significant amount of comms.
I guess what I'm saying then is that when the bar for getting commendations is as low as it is. Getting 1500 should be easy enough for anyone including people who play dps.
If players aren't getting any then they must be doing something very very wrong if they can't even meet standards that low..

Or: they run fully performed parties? I mean, DF is treated like it has some form of a deadly virus. I know people who have savage and ultimates cleared and aren't even close to 1k comms. Asking more usually leads to they run stuff with their friends/raid members cuz DF is something or another.
If you say so.

When dps aren't getting comms, they say that "only tanks and healers get them." But when healers and tanks aren't getting comms, they say that "people give out commendations randomly, it could be for glamour or just a cool name or something."
If giving out commendations is as random as people think, then everyone always has an equal chance to get them regardless of role. If you haven't hit 1500 yet it might just mean that possibly you aren't running roulettes a lot, or just run with premades, and need to branch out a bit.

The new mentor system is fair, only very experienced players deserve to be mentors.
