I've not put it on anything other then DPS myself, but if I'm in a dungeon where both DPS are dancers I'll see the other dancer partner with the tank (especially if it's a gunbreaker) if I partner with them first.

I typically start out with co-DPS as my dance partner, but if they spend more time on the ground/not DPSing, then the tank will become my new partner(if I'm not too lazy to switch...but in full parties, I will switch if my partner is dead more often than not)
When I was leveling DNC in Dohn Mheg the other DPS said “oh not this dance partner bullshit again” so I put it on the tank instead.

I mean, when your DPS partner keeps on dying 50 times somewhere, I think it's time I'd tango with someone else lol.

I put mine on the tank if really love looks of the tank or if tank says how cute my outfit is.

I have issues with this in trials, so I just go by who has the highest ilvl at the start, then I observe them all throughout the fight. Yes I've ended up giving it to tanks on a few occasions. I'm sorry but while I should be happy about being #2(or 3 if the co-tank is doing good) on the enmity list, I'm not because it means all the other DPS are terrible. Healers get a pass because healing gets busy and that destroys their DPS.
In 4 mans, I always partner up with the DPS, just don't die, because I will switch.

If my co-dps isn’t doing well, it will go to whoever is doing second best. Luckily it doesn’t happen often![]()
I can't tell if people are doing good DPS, heck I probably do the worst DPS in the group, but I can tell when people keep dying, so that's when I switch dance partner, and sometimes I end up with the tank. Other than that, I always choose a DPS.
I once put it on a tank in an alliance raid and all my fellow DPS were more dancers. We made the whole group (even the healers) our partners.... the run went super fast and everyone was having fun. My alliance never had issues with our mechanics since everything dies so fast.
Each dancers have their own reasons to choose which one in the party to be their dance partner.
Also, in the case that my dance partner died(Not because MT was dead and they were killed by tankbuster), I’ll choose other dps right of the bat and won’t re-dance partner with the one who died for the rest of the fight.
As in, If you died while dancing with me then you lost your privilege, doesn’t matter how high your dps is.
