If you do this there really should be a bigger penalty than 30 minutes..
If you queue for something and you leave immediatly because you don't like what you got take away all roulette bonusses for the day or something.

Then people will just sit in duties and do nothing until you kick them so they don't have to eat the penalty.

And then we'll travel down the rabbit hole of "why are roulettes not giving me x/y/z content, instead because a/b/c reasons."
And that's because everyone wants to receive the maximum reward available that also requires the minimum investment. And I am not against this mindset, but the arguments always devolve into questioning "why" of it all.

Lmao no. 30 minute penalty is enough punishment for leaving the duty.

Given that some duties can last longer than 30 minutes, no it really isn't. I advocate for duty time remaining plus 30 minutes (perhaps applying only the remaining duty time for if you get kicked, possibly lifted once they complete the duty?) That way it's worth more value to just get the duty done. There's a precarious balancing act to avoid people dcing to get kicked to avoid penalties vs making the penalty strict enough to make people want to just get the job done.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Square Enix could permanently ban me for backing out of the MSQ roulette and I still wouldn't run Castrum.Given that some duties can last longer than 30 minutes, no it really isn't. Prae or nothing!
Which is your choice but seems silly to me since it comes with the 30 minute penalty before you can queue for other duties/roulettes. In that 30 minutes you could have finished Castrum and gotten a good start on another dungeon, getting the same net rewards or perhaps even better if the second dungeon was level appropriate for you.
It's not like you were needed other than to get the group formed and into the instance. One tank, one healer and a few DPS can handle Castrum just fine. If you think by abandoning you're "sticking it to the man" and making things difficult for other players, you're not. You're only making things more difficult for yourself.
But each to their own.

If the player isn’t needed for completing Castrum, then why give them a harsher punishment for leaving it? Clearly, them leaving isn’t as detrimental as those who advocate for harsher punishments would like to imply.Which is your choice but seems silly to me since it comes with the 30 minute penalty before you can queue for other duties/roulettes. I'm not one suggesting a harsher punishment since I think it's fine as is. Thirty minutes is a pretty stiff penalty for someone who can only play an hour or two a day, especially if they rely on queued content.
Have no idea why others want a harsher penalty unless they were hoping others were going to carry them through the instance while they put their character on follow then go AFK. Well, tough for them. They're even more guilty than the players who are at least honest enough to leave the group because they don't want to do that instance.
Yeah I agree with the person you disagree with. It should be longer.. like a day. Noone takes the 30 mins seriously and at that point the penalty isn't a penalty then. It should keep people from doing that, not reward people. So I'm in favor of it being longer and harsher.
