Something I think is kind of cool.

First I want to make it very clear that I love the FFXIV soundtrack, and I'd never want to replace it with anything else. But I noticed while playing through the Shadowbringers MSQ that there were several places where the soundtrack for Blade Runner 2049 fit almost perfectly. I made a video demonstrating that the first song from Blade Runner works very well with the cutscene where your character gets pulled to the first, but I'm not sure if it's cool to post that sort of thing here.

Anyway, is there any music you find fits this game, or any other game, really well?

Personally, I prefer to by listening to my own music while playing the game; meaning that I turn on IHeart radio or a podcast and listen to that instead.

I was doing some of the Azim Steppe main quests with-

    Heilung: https://youtu.be/h1BsKIP4uYM?t=1103
    Hu: https://youtu.be/v4xZUr0BEfE?t=70
    SKÁLD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9NIBZfVBW4

Playing a few times, normally I listen to the in game music (Soken is great) but I occasionally youtube on the other monitor, and I felt those were pretty good lol (just picture the plains being like greenland or iceland for the two viking-like ones ).

Speaking of that, as an aside, I love Azim Steppe and if the devs were looking for some more zone ideas some stereotypical "viking" environments would be pretty cool- like a large expansion to Ishgard's surrounding area, with glaciers and icy blue waters (especially now that we have swimming), and then in some parts huge open vistas of green and mountain.

I decided to go ahead and post my video. Tell me this song doesn't seem like it was written for this cutscene.

I turn off the music in every game (except for DooM and DooM II). I don't like accoustic interpretations of certain situations. In Borderlands I want to hear the bullet casings drop, in GTA I dislike the funky 80s music when being chased (even though it turns off the stereos, too!) etc. I am just a bit tired of the happy town music and such stuff.

When certain characters die in the story, why would be random orchestras there? As a kid in like 1997, my dad played MYST, and Tomb Raider II that all live from their atmosphere by the lack of music. It is not about the quality of the soundtrack, it is about that I want to create my own emotions and it not being forced by the developers who put in quick/loud music or quiet/sad tracks etc.

If I'm playing FF XIV it's usually a 50/50 chance that I'll leave the music play or simply listen to my own. When I do though, Sabaton > all. It seems to fit with just about every game that has combat.
