I don't need telling because I don't voice chat to anyone other than my partner.

For what it's worth, you've literally just re-written what I wrote but in your own words.

Moving away from the OP's obvious attempt to rile people.

When it comes to voice, I'll say, obnoxious background noise or just too much loud noise is really grating. Especially when you're trying to focus and clear content or are trying to handle mechanics, talk people through stuff. So I think for people in general, it is good to be self aware of the noise around you. And it's a courtesy I return. I've set up my mic so it also plays through my headset so I can hear what's being picked up by my mic. But I also run my own FC and Discord and we have a few courteous expectations on it (nothing too rigid because we're generally quite laid back), but when it's your channel then you can decide what you want and don't want, of course within reason (as if you're unreasonable, people'll just leave). Push to talk is also great, but not easy for everybody. If I'm guesting somebody else's channel, then as far as I am concerned, it's not my place to say how people should behave and if I don't like it, I can mute the people who're annoying me or simply leave.

That said. I have absolutely no issue if parents with young children want to play this game. Or even for those people to use voice. Its rare for it to be a constant noise and if it is, people can turn their mic off until it goes away. One of the guys who joins us on voice has a very well behaved kid, we've heard him talking to his kid, but never had any issues with the kid. And you never know who is around when a parent is playing and they've got kids nearby. I don't think it's irresponsible parenting as long as the kid is not being neglected. Heck, some parents introduce their kids to gaming, I used to watch my mum play Monkey Island, Pushover or James Pond and other Amiga classics.

So I'd just not jump to conclusions about anybody's parenting here.

This would be so much less of a problem if people just ate their young like nature intended.

    So, a few things:

    1) Mute the people who are allowing their kids to scream into their mic. If they have no control over their kids and / or choose to play a video game while they're out of control, they are not worth listening to in the first place.
    2) Do not raid with people who let their kids scream into the mic, because, just like 1), they're not worth listening to.
    3) Find a static and / or FC that has mature, upstanding people. I gotta tell you, I've raided for a very, very long time, and not once did I ever have to deal with nonsense like this. Why? I choose to raid with people who are mature, upstanding, and don't play video games while their children obviously need attention.

I thought it was basic etiquette to mute your mic if loud obnoxious noises are incoming from your end. Did that change?

If your baby/kid is crying, apologise and go see what the deal is. Sure they scream bloody murder for the sake of screaming, but assuming they're just doing it for attention again isn't the best route. Many a sad tale comes out of parents assuming the kids calling wolf again, when yeah.... nope - something is genuinely wrong.

That's not even a judgement of one's parenting, that's just a 'brah' moment.

I personally think anyone who allows their kid to screech in the mic and makes zero attempt to remedy the situation is pretty obnoxious.

It's.. really not. Kids do weird things. Kids make noises sometimes just because they like making the noise. I'm not saying ignore your kids, I'm saying that sometimes screaming is gonna happen and while it would be nice if the parent in that case shuts off the mic, sometimes they're just kinda numb to it already and It's not a case of them being inconsiderate, just human.

I accept that my friends with kids are going to be a certain level of audio and interaction, and that's OK.
