God this reminds me of those moments in COD where some kid will be asking for something over a mic and the father will refuse because, “I’m playing COD man.” I would describe it in more detail but I’m not in the mood to get banned from the forums AGAIN lol.

But I guess some people forget that having a child is a full time job on top of your full time job so stuff like that I’d bound to happen

I thought by now people would know that Lacan threads are just trolling.

I'm just glad my parents actually like, looked after me as a kid instead of playing mmos with their headset on while I was screaming in the other room. :v

I don’t know whether I agree or disagree with you. As I said being a parent is a full time job, and with what precious little free time the parents have, maybe they would want to spend it doing something fun like playing a video game.

But at the same time, why why WHY would you chose a always online game to play? You don’t know if your child will start crying mid way through a dungeon, trial, raid, etc, it’s a constant bomb waiting to go off, you may be able to predict when a child will start crying and adjust accordingly though but I doubt it’ll be accurate as predicting when you’ll have to leave for class, work, a date, or something else.

Maybe they should focus on crafting and gathering, only play when the child is at daycare/school, playing single player games (Final Fantasy is amazing and it’s relevant to this discussion) or doing something else, idk.

This seems like a post created to get players without kids to argue with people with kids and vice versa.

The question is why are there people who keep bringing creatures into this world.

Depending on what the child is screaming about, it's better to not give them attention for it; Not applicable in all cases, but a child shouldn't be getting your full attention simply because they're raising their voice. This teaches them that they can simply act out to get attention whenever they want and will continue that trend through adolescent and adult years.

See that's the reason I'm childfree - I enjoy my games and free time waaay too much. There's nothing to gain and everything to lose (for me) in having a child

Basic mic courtesy should be VOIP 101 IMO

And I say that as a parent of.... well, more kids than most of you would think is normal.

I mean, it's inconsiderate and rude of someone to let their screaming kid be heard by all 7 other members of a static when that one person can just mute their mic. No one wants to hear a screaming kid, it's not adding anything, and it's disruptive to communication when doing content. The parent should be using push-to-talk instead.

It's kinda mindboggling that your first solution here is "if you don't like it, then just leave" when the other person is being inconsiderate to the entire group.

You know what else is inconvenient for any person in any location or situation and everyone else in their vicinity? Incessant ear-shattering screeching because someone either can't or won't control their children in public. It's rude. The person with kids needs to have some respect of the other members of the group and either stay muted or deal with using push-to-talk regardless of controller or not.

Honestly, it's not a question of "parenting" or anything else, it's common courtesy to not disturb people around you. It's the same thing as people coughing in public without covering their mouths, spitting gum out on sidewalks, or not putting toilet seats/lids down before flushing.
