    Lore Question - Aurum vale

So after reading "Garleans In The Vale" in The Harbor Herald tonight I was wondering..
What lore does it give for adventurers to be able to survive within the Vale?
Is there some key item to enter that supposedly filters out the noxious gas?

"Besides scorching the flesh, the liquid also emits a noxious gas that renders breathing an exercise in agony when inhaled, an affliction known as Gold Lung."

"No living creature can survive being in the Vale for any length of time save those monstrosities that have evolved to thrive in the forsaken environment."

What prevents us from dying when we go in? Or is it just "Better hurry and get through here before we all die!!" O.o

I suppose SE doesn't HAVE to explain it.. but it makes no sense to me at the moment.
    So I'm just curious. :x
If I were living in Eorzea I don't think I'd be heading in there any time soon.. no matter how great the reward.

Actually, the lore is that you can actually spend a little while in there before you get severely hurt, and after that you need a period to recover your before returning so that you don't suffer from any long-lasting side-effect.
That's exactly how they explain it, there's even an NPC at the entrance (the entry NPC I forget his name) that warns you that and that he WILL forcibly extract your team if you spend too long inside using a Return spell on you.

Also supposedly Adventurers are a race of idiots willing to do pretty much any and all crazy idiocies for money, also the very image of the vagabond, according to in-game lore >_>

And from what I know- The pools of Goldbile in the Aurum Vale will kill you sufficiently fast if you decide to stand on them.

Inside you can find two types of fruits (one red and one blue - can't remember the names) that boost your defense against the Gold Vile (sp?) and Gold Lung.

Another question.. Is Gold Lung a status effect you can get while in there?
Thought it would be neat if it was.

Haven't gone there so I don't know, but Gold Lung sounds like a horrible enough disease that that as a status effect would be absolutely crippling.

Yes, once you enter the "yellow" areas you'll get a message that says "The air here is saturated with noisome fumes" and at the same time the status effect "Gold Lung", you'll get a similar message if you step into the pools of Goldbile. Both effects can only be removed by getting out of the areas that produce them.

As I said before, you can eat one of two types of fruits (both found inside the AV), one that reduces the effect somewhat for a long time and the other that minimizes the effect much more but only for a short time.

Actually, the Red Fruit lowers DMG from Gold Lung aka air, while the Blue Fruit lowers dmg from the Gold Vile(sp?) aka Peepee pool. It's not both doing the same for different periods of time.

Thanks for answering. Sounds like an interesting dungeon. :3 I like SE using the environment against us. Hopefully we'll see more things like this in the future.. Traps and things, bad weather.. etc.
