Lalafell's Ruined (For Me) By a Couple People

There use to be a guy here (on this forum) on a crusade, trying to get SE to delete lalafells and telling everyone who played the race that they were perverts. Some creepy people agreed with him, and even my ex-boyfriend made comments about it.

Meanwhile, I'm a 25 year old woman without any mental illnesses that just enjoys dressing up a chibi avatar (a potato with a head) in cute looking outfits. Back in the day I changed to miqo'te because of these men's disturbing claims; I didn't want to deal with being bullied by them anymore, and as someone who use to be a heavy forum-goer I experienced it almost on the daily. But just recently I returned to the game and missed the cuteness of a potato avatar and changed back to lalafell.

The issue is, ever since then I have had anxiety because of my experience of being bullied when playing the race. It's basically ruined the race for me... I've considered changing back, but I wanted to see if others have had similar experiences or if these creeps have cleared out from the forum.

I think most of the real weirdos are too busy arguing for teen/pre-teen racial options to be concerned with inhuman shaped potatos these days. On my lala alt the worst i seem to get is head pats from idiots.

No, but I make exceptions for video games where they're not actually touching me and my character is not me (and FFXIV's emote doesn't actually touch my character either unless they get really close), but fair enough.

Funny cause I find most in game bullies tend to play lalafells.

But anyway. It's likely not going to help but the best advice is to remember its an online game. You need to have a bit of a tougher skin here. The internet can be nasty and if you need to make a choice not to let it bring you down. Play your lala, if ppl wanna talk smack, let em. who cares what some rando, has to say about your character choices. If they do it in game, report em for harassment, if you read it online just tell yourself "F%$& em" and move on.

Online harassment is nothing new and its not going to go away. You need to adapt and learn and, sad to have to say it, but toughen up. Maybe teach your kids better so when they go online they are not said bullies.

And fyi, its likely not just dudes, women who play this game can be just as nasty. I had to boot more than a few women outta my fc and discord for being some of the worst trolls Ive had to deal with in 2 decades of mmos.

No point worrying about something you can't control. It'll make your life miserable (for who knows how long) whereas it's just another tick in the box for the trolls. Why spend hours or days feeling anxious about such stupid opinions when it's barely a blip on the radar for those who voiced it?

If you enjoy being an adorable as f*** Lalafell then play a Lalafell. This is your time, your happiness. Don't let others dictate your happiness.

I don't mind it at all, since it's a game and most are doing it in a friendly manner. Heck, I don't mind those slapping me, because I will chase them to the end of the map to slap them back.
