Scary fairies

People tend to think of fairies in folklore as cute little Tinkerbells, but they were often dangerous or scary. Being out late, being a jerk to a stranger, going into the wrong place, and you just might make one of the fey mad or they might decide you are their new pet or toy to play with.

Balmung Junior?

When I first joined the game in 2016 I was told Faerie is sometimes considered to be a "younger sibling" of the Balmung server, but I have no idea where that comes from or if it was a popular sentiment. Anyone else ever hear that? Or why that would be said?

The implication I inferred (though it wasn't stated outright) had something to do with RP.

That's the only Faerie server trivia I know, other than we were one of many servers to have lots of helpful people for Raubahn Extreme, and people getting help formed orderly queues.

But it does raise the question to anyone reading: Why did you choose to play on Faerie?

Why I picked Faerie, was because I heard it was a very nice and friendly server, so I made a character here and enjoyed my first few days playing and never left.

I picked Faerie because it was the only non-preferred server where character creation was available on the night that I started playing.

I consciously chose to make a character on a non-preferred server because I didn't want the EXP boost; I enjoy being on the journey as much as arriving at the destination. Being a WoW refugee, I figured that if this game were anything like WoW then I was worried that I'd end up outlevelling the story if I had the exp boost (which wasn't unfounded -- I'm 7 levels ahead of the story quests without even doing sidequests or spamming dungeons).

I actually played in the v. 1.0 beta and hated it. I thought I'd never come back to it, but the latest expansion for WoW is really not good and I've been in denial for a while.. LOL. Last week I decided, on a whim, to buy the base game and give it another shot and I immediately felt like a fool for avoiding it so long.

Smart, for a first character. Thanks to the stuff between core expansion (x.0) patches, there's so much experience inflation...

I chose to play on Faerie somewhat arbitrarily. In my first year or so of playing the game (in ARR) I server hopped several times, trying to find a community that would click with me. I transferred to Faerie after seeing a couple promising FC ads... and while both FCs turned out to be cliquish and dysfunctional (neither exists any more afaik), I found myself enjoying the people on the server overall. So here I am! I've accumulated a lot of friends here over the years, even if over half my friends list consists of names I no longer recognize. <_<

I originally tried to make a character on Coeurl because I kew one of my GW2 guildies had a character there but it was full the night I started playing so I thought, "ehhh Faerie sounds nice, I'll start there and maybe remake later." Turns out a lot of our other guildies who also play are on Faerie so I ended up staying and said guildie server swapped to join us.

I recently started playing and picked faerie because I read everyone was very welcoming and nice there. I'm too new to really say if that's true and haven't made any friends yet but so far I haven't had any bad experiences!
Also I just really love faeries, but the badass irish ones.
