Problems letting go of XI? Japanese too.

I think that's why asking for things from XI isn't a bad idea. XI was one of the most successful mmos of all time, people complain about aspects of it, well it was obviously wasn't that terrible or it wouldn't rank #4 all time. That one guy said,

The goal is certainly not pleasing 20k hardcore XI fans who can't let go of their nostalgia and then show a 50 million dollar loss to their investors. Case closed.

But so far it's FFXIV (a game for that "casual audience") that's a 50 mil loss to their investors, in fact i'd say it's over 100mil at this point.

How about a compromise? SE announces what amounts to FFXI-2. We FFXI fans pack up our nostalgia and leave them to do whatever they want with XIV. Fix it, break it, scrap it, we won't care nor utter another word about XI until the beta for a predecessor is announced. Ok, some people might classify that as extortion, but all's fair in love and game developement.

I would love that personally. Could set it like 1000 years into the future or something and if you had an XI account make your new char an ancestor of the old one and have references to them in cut scenes.

Forumers complain that the content gets delayed, and when it comes out everyone is happy, and 2 weeks later they want more crap to do.

I think that's a flaw in the current design, the content gets boring fast. I loved the new jobs and stuff but a week later I was bored. The anti time sink people don't seem to realize without them the content gets boring quickly.

People complained about HNM's repop, and things like once a week stuff. Well do you prefer killing ifrit 100 times to get what you need? I'd much prefer a cool down timer with a higher drop rate.
