but at the same time... you can't alienate the FFXI base either....I have the say this is the smartest post i've see so far in this forums. This is exactly what S-E is thinking about when they are working on XIV. We got millions of FF fans and millions of PS3 out there... now how do we get these people to buy XIV? They are not thinking about how we can make this more like XI because XI has a fans base, certainly not and that is because XI is still there and they are planning to still make money from it.
Yoshi wants everyone to enjoy the game and both sides could stand to be a little more flexible and open minded
I'm 100% on board with this comment.FFXI lovers vs FFXI haters feels like republicans vs democrats
You're not going to change each others minds... and most people are stuck in the middle...
All we want is a good game... thats it
I just want a fun game... To be fair... I think 2.0 is a major step in that direction already
Honestly I think this game has enough XI in it already. Just look at our recycled races, and classes/jobs.
Stick it in my Balmung.
To me it looked like it the numbers went down when WOW really started to pick up, which coincided with WoTG.Already discussed this first part
I believe WoTG started the decline, not abyssea and if you notice they didn't start losing clients until then. If they had kept new content coming that was on the level of CoP and ToAU it would have been better longer. Some may disagree, but the numbers support the contrary.
If the new idea is supposed to bring in a new audience where are they? Spending months killing crabs and what not, was fun, but not if that's all you did. XI had a wide range of content, clearly if i'm tired of killing crabs im going to go enjoy other things to cool down.
Ninja looting never happened to my shells, if your ls leader kept the lead and was the last one to pass on everything it didn't happen. And claim wars were fun imo, it added a lot of adrenaline to nm camping. Sure it sucked when you lost claim, but when you finally got it what beat that feeling? Competition is fun, why do you think shooters are so popular?
People like showing off their accomplishments what's wrong with that? Back when getting a class to 50 took a long time the paragon's crown would have really been something. It's like maat's cap how many were there? If you had one then you really had something to be proud of. But you put on a paragon's crown in XIV and everybody else has one too. It's like so what?
Content overtime should be added for the casual and extreme Player. I remember reading In a thread that AF gear was weaker in comparison to AV And CC gear drops. Why not make difficult content for the regular player and hardcore content for the beastmaster in the game? So that the casual is able to get decent gear and the hardcore can get gear that's a little more superior to the " casual " gear. This way both sides are happy and get what they need from the MMo.
True but that is a double edge sword. Giving too much to XI fans will eventually kill XI. Some of them will move to XIV but the ones that don't want to make to move will just quit XI because the population will have went down too much and that is lost money.
It is hard to run 2 mmo so similar at the same time. I think S-E wants to tap in into the casual market and all the others to who XI does not appeal. Once XI will have ran it's life, they will start adding more and more XI elements to bring back these players.
One sentence: Casuals will not be satisfied with second rate gear.Content overtime should be added for the casual and extreme Player.
I think its just another example of the extremist running things... I have every class to 50 and I don't consider myself hardcore or casual...Content overtime should be added for the casual and extreme Player.
Im a player... that simple... most of us are caught right in the middle
Its all about vision though... there is no right or wrong...
If some gear took 2 months to get... and the content was geared towards hardcore players... should it be 2% better than the next best thing? 10% better? 25% better? 50% better?
There is no right or wrong answer... only opinions
Here is the million dollar question....True but that is a double edge sword.
Once XI will have ran it's life, they will start adding more and more XI elements to bring back these players.
maybe the biggest question ever posed on the forum...
Can 1 game satisfy everyone?
The classes/jobs are NOT recycled from FFXI. That's actually very far from the truth. If they were, they'd feel a lot more distinct than they do.
The AF names are recycled from XI though, I guess you could complain about that?
