    Suggestion: Disable HQ

    As most endgame omni-crafter with less than 5-6 retainers know, at some point you simply stop holding HQ materials. They don't really have a higher market value than NQ and you don't need them for any craft. Every craft in the game can be done with just NQ materials with a geared lv80 crafter.
    This ends up being tedious when you constantly have to lower quality on materials you gather, find or make.

    The suggestion is to have a section on Character Customization -> Item Settings to disable the acquisition of HQ items. For example:

    Disable High Quality:
    * Quick Synthesis
    * Retainer Ventures
    * Gathering
    * Loot and Creature drops

    You can tick the appropriate boxes and while ticked will only get NQ materials from those sources.

    OP is absolutely right, HQ items become pointless after a while. Pick Clean was a thrill to receive; I was willing to turn HQs off for free but they let me do it AND give me a bonus for it? Sweet. Too bad about the GP cost.

    I'd adore having this option. Unfortunately I don't think it would ever be implemented, because they have to consider the lowest common denominator who would do things like leave it turned on when it's not appropriate (e.g. doing a crafter quest) and then complain to SE that they should have been protected from their own mistakes.

    Isn't there an option to make HQ items NQ if you right click it in the inventory?

    (Please do not be hostile. I'm a nOOb. I could swear I saw this, though.)

    There is - its just a tad annoying to use it when you've got lots of different items. So this suggestion isnt completly pointless, but a bit more on the luxury side of QoL-things.

    Since you have all 80 DoH, I'll assume you either don't craft seriously or have plenty of retainers.

    HQ base materials are all literally useless for a maxed crafter right now. They serve no purpose and waste inventory space. You can 1-100% every craft in the game with NQ materials.

    I can't see this being too difficult for the devs. Retainers already have set chances to gather HQ dependent on gear, you simply set that to 0% if the option is ticked. You could also add a persistent version of the Pick Clean 0% HQ buff that could be toggled on and off for gathering. If this actually was difficult to code, that's fine, it's a QoL suggestion after all. If is isn't difficult then it's worth making the suggestion.

    Why in first place you want normal items over hq items. This makes no since if its for turn ins you get double exp. from hq items.

    Not everyone gets the items for direct turn ins - any serious crafter can craft any item using full NQ-mats by now. Which means that if I need the items I'm gathering to craft something I dont require the base-mats to be HQ, NQ will do just fine. Which means that I dont want to have two stacks in my inventory (one NQ, one HQ).
    I dont need HQ-items for turn ins anymore, all my DoH/DoL-jobs are level 80. I'm only crafting stuff I need (or sell) by now and for that I dont really need HQ-base-mats anymore since the whole crafting-process allows me to turn the item into HQ anyways.

    And no one is suggesting to just do away with HQ-items completly. If you still want them for turn ins you could always not disable them, get your HQ stuff while others who dont need/want HQ-items (anymore) safe a inventory-slot without having to turn everything into NQ by hand each time.
