I don't see the issue with you referring to it as a chicken - but I fail to see the actual difference between complaining about chocobos (as a summary of what you said) and your exact statement about not wanting to run around a map on your [chocobo].
Have you tried crafting/gathering? If all you have is an hour or two, I think that would be something relaxing for you to do.I’m a pretty new player so take this from my point of view but I have had some issues with leveling in the game.
Until you get to the final expansion there seems to be no reason at all to do any questing other than the msq. And yeah FFXIV seems to do a great job for story but the problem for me has been that you do very little gameplay or experiencing the world and spend most your time traveling and reading all the story text. So when I get home at night and have an hour or two to play, the last thing I want to do is read and travel around a map so I end up just playing a low lvl job and doing levees so that I can relax and get some game action.
Am I alone here?
I didn't mean to come across like I was complaining but more making the comment that with little time I would like more interaction instead of just reading and traveling.
The MSQ is a requirement to unlock many dungeons and trials and raids as well as zones where you can do hunts and fates. So I'd suggest do a little reading and traveling each day to progress the MSQ and then do other things for the rest of your time.I’m a pretty new player so take this from my point of view but I have had some issues with leveling in the game.

Fates provide a bunch of opportunities for combat. Also, try to look for side quest chains. Many of them require combat too.
Finally, Palace of the Dead is all combat. Why don't you attempt to get to the top floor?
Have fun and good luck!

Gosh such empty words stop throwing that around.
That may Leave the OT to question about this game. Which is a bad thing. So sho.
And OT is trying to tell his perspective of his experience and he came here to ask if his alone about it.

Oh I think the OP has a different motive for creating this thread.
I respectfully disagree with the people saying that RPGs aren't for OP.
I'm a legacy player and absolutely love this game. But there is no denying that a lot of the quests, specially the ones near the end of ARR are incredibly daunting and don't really contribute all that much to the overall story of the game. For a new player it must be incredibly frustrating to be stuck doing 100+ fetch quests while friends and FC mates are off doing more exciting content.
Filler quests/menial tasks are fun when sprinkled on with the rest of the story (like they did in Shadowbringers) but the way they were handled in those ARR lvl.50 quests is just awful. I don't have a link to it, but I believe one of the recent live letters addressed this problem. That is, they're planning on trimming a lot of those quests lvl.50 quests to make the story more enjoyable to new players.
That's because you're a rabid fanboy. Anyone should be able to read my original message and see that I was not bashing the game but asking if others had the same experience with the msq. Even after explaining it to you, you still can't see it because you're all up in arms over me calling your pixelated rooster a chicken. How ridiculous. And now you have formed some kind of conspiracy theory about my motives in creating this topic. Absolutely ridiculous....really.
