    Will this game die out?

First off I'd like to say that my prayers go out to Japan with the recent tragedy that has occurred.

I'm posting this purely to gather opinion and feedback from the community. Seeing the difficulties that the development team has gone through and keeping track of current progress for FFXIV has made me a little worried. I've always been rooting for Square Enix in all their endeavors, but this one seems to be struggling quite a bit from what I have gathered. Some of you probably know much more than me, hence the purpose of the post, and I would like to hear what you have to say on the survivability of this game and where you think things are headed. Thanks for your feedback

No because there are enough fanboys like me that should keep it solvent as long they keep us happy, its hard to make us unhappy though.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

No this game wont die out. There are MMO's that are far worse, and they are still going.

And even if the worst were to happen, there are ways to salvage an MMO. DDO is a perfect example.
I had heard so much negative that I had written that game off. Then they made it free to download and free limited play, that was enough to get me hooked. I charged my account up $100 and bought 90% of the games content. I played for a year, so Id say I got my moneys worth. And best of all, I can go back anytime and play for free. No monthly billing, I will always own my rights to play that content.

It mostly depends on how fast Yohsi-P can rebuild the game. If he can add the features he's been talking about without delays (Like the battle system in spring) I'd say the game has a decent chance of recovery. However the fact is the damage has been done so trying to pull back players will be quite a bit of a challenge, if it's even possible.

I honestly believe if the game stayed in its current state, a small percentage of players( myself included ) would continue to play. With that statement I see FFXIV being around for a long time with or without a large population, and it can only get better from here right?

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Their best chance is to get it playable for a PS3 or Expansion release and the Media Reviews that they could enlist from it.

We could see news articles like. "WOW, FFXIV IS ACTUALLY GOOD!" in half a year?

Exactly, the PS3 version will more than likely make or break the game. An expansion would be a huge help to.
