Op, Bosses HP gets to a point where they have HP left even though it does not show on the bar. If the boss was still standing at the time of the attack then he had HP left.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
I see the problem here, keep the expectations low.really devs, really? if I kill all of the adds and the boss has no life explain to me how in the hell he still kills me with 999999 damage? what the hell is this game coming to? he had no damned life left, if this is how you plan to continue with DPS checks in the MSQ you can count me out.
I just re subbed thinking I might enjoy myself but nope
Ran'jit fight? ....Ok, really low.
Yeah, they do tend to drag on. I'm always like "this is cool" at first, but when it's 15 minutes later it starts getting a bit :-/
I don't think there's a problem with the instance, but I know first time I let myself be caught off guard and didn't properly take care of the adds at the end and was like "oh shi I should deal with that" and didn't do it in time.
Whilst frustrating to redo, I don't like these to just be a cakewalk and for there to be a risk of failure.
I did mine as DNC too. It is a DPS check and arguably DNC has the lowest DPS, so will be slightly harder to do, depending on how efficient your rotation is, as is the case with any DPS checks.
If its still an issue. I'd look at rotation guides for DNC to push your DPS further. No shame in doing it, I ended up doing so for my DNC because I want to push it.
I suppose something you can do (if you don't already) is reserve your Devilment and Technical Step for the DPS check, because the 1500 potency is nice and it comes with an extra DPS boost in the last push with the boosts from both skills.
People are really missing the point here.
It's not about OP being bad at the fight, the game or whatever.
It's about the fact that, as someone else already said, FFXIVs communication between server and client is just plain awful and makes the game feel clunkier and slower than it is. I often see players, not bots no, lagging through the world and in most cases, where you, for example, kill a questmob it takes like 0.5 seconds for it to register.
In WoW, for example, I almost never had this problem. Except for BfA-regions, where everyone agreed the servers just couldn't handle this many players on the shard.
Been like this since I started playing in the ARR beta. There's no denying it.
Maybe you don't even notice it, if you don't play other MMOs. But it's there.
Now, you adjust to this little nuisance and enjoy and love the game anyway.
But sometimes stuff like this happens, where this little nuisance leads to someone failing something because it was kinda close, and then they are upset. Rightfully so.
This feels more like the WoW community all the time with the "git gud" comments. Really? Is it so hard to be.... helpful? Encourage people? I guess it must be.
OP: I've had things like that happen before. It shows it should be dead on your end but for some reason it just keeps going. It sucks, and it's frustrating for sure, but just keep trying. You'll get it. If you were THAT close and you just needed a few more seconds, eat some food or make sure you've got some materia in your gear. Sometimes it can make all the difference when you're banging your head against something.
Best of luck to you!
I feel your pain bro. In the entire ShB main scenario quests I struggled heavily on only 2 quest/fight and one of that is the last fight with Ranjit.
To be fair, I'm really confused at the DPS checks being put into solo MSQ instances. That seems really bizarre to me. They didn't exist until Stormblood I don't think? And I didn't think it made any sense then either.
DPS checks should be for optional content, not for casual content.
I was specifically talking about solo content. DPS checks in MSQ dungeon bosses and MSQ trials are a different story. They shouldn't be super hard though because it is still MSQ content.
